Follow Me Friday (#10)

It's time for the weekly book blogger hops again! A great opportunity to meet new bloggers and say hi to old.

Crazy For Books' Book Blogger Hop
Question this week:  What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf.
Book Blogger Hop
Well I don't usually have something specific make me get past the first few pages of a book other then just pure guilt.  I HATE HATE quitting a book and I have quit very few.  The ones I have quit have been like 500 or 600 pages long and the funny thing is usually I have about 100 pages left and then I quit.  I recently did it with A Discovery of Witches and Freedom.  I just didn't feel like reading the last 100 pages, I guess I just didn't care anymore.

Question this week: ACK!  Your favorite book/movie character (example Hermione Granger played by the Emma chick) just walked into the room!  Who is it and what would be your first reaction.  You get extra points if you include visual stimulation.

Oh wow!  What a question!  So I am trying to go for something here that not everyone will use.  Cleary I am a Stephen King fan so I this week I pick Jack Nickleson as Jack from the Shinning.  I love love that book and the movie is good too (those losely based on the Novel).  If I saw him I would probably pray I had a camera on me because no one would believe me... and in the picture I would tell him to look all crazy so I could post it in my Stephen King Fans group on goodreads!!

Leave your comments so I can check out your follow me friday.  And please feel free to follow me (isn't that what follow friday is all about???) and I will of course follow you back!

  4. Wow, what a scary picture.

I usually finish any book that I start, but I've been terrible lately about reading a few pages and then abandoning a book. I don't keep track of my DNF's, but I probably should.

  5. Love Jack Nicholson
    .
I do try to give every book a chance but don't force myself to continue reading a book that doesn't grab me.
    Have a good weekend

  6. I don't know why I keep reading a book. It's not the story. It's not the characters. I really don't know!

I'm the complete opposite of you....I will give up on a book in a heartbeat!

I'm hopping by to tell you that I've got a wonderful giveaway going on at my blog, Readerbuzz. It's international! During the Readerbuzz July Giveaway I'll be giving away a $25 Amazon gift card! I'd love to have you stop in and throw your name in the hat to win!

  8. Great choice! I haven't read a Stephen King novel in a while, but no author has given me nightmares like he has. Pennywise the clown from IT.... gives me the chills just thinking about it.

Hopping through via Parajunkee's FF. I'm having a giveaway on my blog this weekend, please stop by!

  9. Hopping through. I hate giving up books too, but if there's no reason to keep going, there's no reason.

  10. One thing that turns me off about a book is when there's a lot of cussing in it, or its got a lot of inappropriate content. Both of those things I can read in moderation, but the entire book shouldn't be disgusting.
I don't read anything with magic in it.
But I love, love, LOVE anything with lots of spicy humor and sparking romance. Also, a good fast-paced action flick won't leave my hands.

  11. What an awesome blog! The Jack video is fantastic... Don't you love your NookColor? Whatever you do, don't drop it. I totally messed up my screen and ended up switching over to an Android tablet. It's a poor replacement.

  12. You've inspired me to take the dust off my library card and check out some books. I took a break from reading with my baby's arrival. I wasn't able to finish any book that I began reading. Now he is able to entertain himself more and I can read when he's napping.
