Bloggiesta September 2013- Starting Line

LET’S GET THIS FIESTA  STARTED!

The idea behind Bloggiesta is to spend these next three days working on perfecting your blog and connecting with other bloggers who are doing the same thing. Spread the word and get all your friends to come and fiesta with us!  If you haven’t heard about Bloggiesta before, it’s a weekend (September 20th-22nd) where we all sit down to work on our blogs, do those things we keep putting off, as well as network and meet new bloggers and participate in challenges and giveaways. Definitely check it out, it’s a lot of fun!
I will update just this one post here so people don't keep seeing the same post over and over again.  So head here if you want to see my updates!  Here are my goals:

Holy smokes!  I had no idea Bloggiesta started... well TODAY through the 22nd!

Here is what I would like to get done:

1.  I do this every Bloggiesta.  It is a great time for me to do it... I moderate two large groups at goodreads and sometimes the threads get away from me.  I like to read each topic/thread and make sure that things are going good.  So I need to catch up on this. I just finished! 3 1/2 hours later I have both groups updated. Sometimes I just want to step down, it's a lot of work!
2.  Comment on blogs participating in Bloggiesta
3.  Participate in mini-challenges Didn't see any that I needed to make a post about. Learned a lot about SEO though!
4.  I would like to get another signature footer on my blog.  I had one before and then blogger updated their HTML or something and it went away.  It was a fabulous one too!!  Boo I still have the code for it... maybe someone out there can help me if I email them the code??? EH?????? Emailing people now to see if they can help me out. Hoping someone will be able to help see what is wrong with the code I have.
5.  Apply for a Twitter card & Google authorship
I tried this... the Twitter things seems like too much and the google authorship you need to like your blogger account to google plus and I DO NOT want to do that.  I did verify my email before I read that though so please God don't let my blog switch to google +!!

6.  Maybe make a page not found?? I sort of did this. I did add links to my page not found... but I didn't add the fancy look.
7.   Go through the blogs I follow and stop following the ones who aren't blogging anymore or the ones that don't blog about topics I am interested in.  This is always a big project so I save it for Bloggiesta.
8.  Back up Blog
9.  Add and image for Feedburner when commenting on Wordpress.

Added:
10.  Set up a Pinterest board specifically for my blog so it doesn't interfere with my other boards.
11.  Changed my social icon buttons, I think they don't work on PCs

Trust me.. this list will get longer as the weekend goes on.  It always does!!! Good luck everyone

  6. I have no clue what a twitter card is, Alysia, so we're always learning new things, eh? Love the image of you with a Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame. I was just there last Sunday. Love it there!!

Oh, and your goals are inspiring me to add some as well, Angela. I didn't know about Google Authorship for example until now. And by the way - you are my first Bloggiesta Goal Post to visit EVER!! YAY!!

  8. My list gets longer too- but this time I'm writing them down for long term goals- I know I won't get to everything this weekend, but I need very real reminders going forward. Good luck with all of your goals!

  9. I have never heard of Twitter card or Google authorship, but now I want them! Hm, I think my "page not found" page looks alright as it is, but I might do something more unique when I have the time :)

  21. You have some great goals and already have completed a ton, good for you! I didn't know what a Twitter card & Google authorship was until I seen it here, I doubt I will have time to add that to my list but I will save it for another day, they both seem so useful so thanks for that! Going through follow-blogs is a huge task, I hope you get that completed as well as the rest of your goals! Good luck :D
