Wicked-Broadway Show Classics Retold

It is still Oz month here at the blog.... and Classics Retold.  So how could I have a month of Oz without talking about the retelling musical Wicked.  For those that don't know this is based off the book Wicked by Gregory Maguire. This book is about Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) and who she is and where she came from.   It also tells of her good friend Glinda.  I have now seen this show twice and had so much fun both times!

Now I love broadway shows, but I don't think you have to like broadway to enjoy this musical.  Even Glee did some covers of the songs from the show.  I actually own the music CD from the show.  I have never owned a musical's CD before.  But it sure is fun. Here is one of the more popular song from the musical, Defy Gravity:

I am sure the show will stop by a town near you.  Be sure to check it out.  You will NOT regret it.

  1. I've seen Wicked twice as well and have the CD in constant rotation. Wicked is the perfect blend of Broadway and Oz. I recently discovered they are making a movie of Wcked too. I hope its as good as its predecessors!

  4. I really didn't get into Wicked until Glee, which showcased it so well. But I've always been a Wizard of Oz fan :D

  5. Oh I love this show so much!! I remember my friend read the book and started obsessing with the music and forced me to see the show one day. And I thank her so much for that. It has such a good story and the music is so catchy and fun that I think of it as a perfect show to bring people who don't really like musicals.

And I didn't know you watched Glee! Do you still keep up with it? I was a little bored by last season, but I'm excited for the new episode this week because BEATLES. (I'm a big fan. :D)
