Follow Me Friday

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

This is the day of the week where we get to know each other better by answering a question devised by our lovely hostesses Parajunkee & Alisoncanread.  GFC will eventually go away (thanks Google) so Bloglovin is a great way to follow me!  And now for this week's question....

Q. If you could read a book for the first time again, what would it be???

 A. Well this will probably be a lot of answers tonight but Harry Potter of course! No movie, no books. Just all brand new.  I remember the first time I read it... my mom had read it first.  I wasn't a big reader at the time so I was like eh.  Then I started reading again and just loved it. I then introduced my fiance (my now husband) to the series and he couldn't put them down either.  Such fun times!!  What about you????  What book would you like to read for the first time??

  1. Gahhhh, I was going to put HP, and after seeing so many others pick it, I feel sorta like a traitor... Ah well, I would love to read Harry Potter again as well. It was the book that really got me to start reading :).

Oh nice! Harry is one of my answers as well! Loved it! It was actually read to us by a teacher in 6th grade for one of those times when teachers just read. Then I ended up getting it myself at Xmas that time and was able to read and enjoy at my own pace!

  4. Such a tough question! I'll go with either Sandman (the series by Neil Gaiman et al) or (a deep track) Twinkle Twinkle Little Star by Ben Barzman. Would love to re-experience either of those for the first time.

If I want to go way waaaay back, I'll go with Bunnicula by James Howe, or maybe The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden. I think those were my first favorite books, and I read them over and over again.

  5. Jane Jensen's Judgment Day and Diane Setterfield's The Thirteenth Tale both take some interesting turns that would be fun to read again for the first time.

  8. I can see that a lot of people are going to pick Harry Potter, maybe I will eventually as well when I finish the series. But for now the book I would love to read again for the first time is Fire by Kristin Cashore. I re-read it at least once a year.

  10. I have reread them many times too. They are the perfect feel good books when you are down and don't want to read something new. I guess that is the bonus of not reading them for the first time over and over. You know what to expect and it's like a comfort book.

  11. Oh wow... THIS book was read?? I am shocked. Usually some parent doesn't want these books read and tries to get them banned. What at great teacher!

Yup! But this was when the book first came out or so. So like 2000 maybe? Can't remember if there was a lot of angst about it right away at the time. Those are fuzzy times for me to remember! But yeah, 6th grade the parts that I can remember paying attention to made me interested and I want to say my grandma got it for me for Christmas that year or something...again, fuzzy on the details! Too much time AND books since then!

  20. I wish I had grown up with them too. I was either a senior in high school or had just graduated when they came out. I would love to have been a child and read them!
