Being sick and blogging: THE HORROR

Ughh.. well I got sick.  It just was this little cough and then boom.. pneumonia.  So let's all take time now to be honest and think about being sick and blogging. If you have been blogging a long time you have probably been there.  Bad cold, bad day even.  You pull up your blog and get excited, then:

1. I have thought about the blog.. yes.  But then when I start to think of something to write about I'm like:

 2. The next day comes... I think gee I am going to just lay here in bed all day, this would be a great time to catch up on all these books from the library!

3. Ok... let's try visiting some of the blogs I follow and get a lot of commenting done! I am up all night coughing....

4. Eventually I just give up and lay here in bed wondering:

  1. I love this post -the gifs are hilarious and you're SO RIGHT. Being sick, or just being really tired even, is not conducive to getting much done. I love to read and blog but sometimes...sigh.

Hope you feel better. Being sick is awful.

OMG, I hope feel better soon!! Pneumonia is the pits!! My worst nightmare is getting sick with anything that requires antibiotics as I'm pretty much allergic to every type of oral antibiotic that I've been prescribed the past 12 years.

  3. This week I just couldn't get it together. I didn't have any posts planned... I was just laying here looking like a cave woman. I really did want to read... I kept glancing at the pages and just wasn't focusing on anything. it is the pits... I have also never been this sick. It is NOTHING like a cold.

  4. Oh wow... I know someone else who is allergic but they are able to take those Z-packs (which are wonderful I might add). Those don't have penicillin or amoxicillin them I don't think. Though obviously check with your Dr. I am not in the medical field at all!

Unfortunately, due to my allergies to antibiotics doctors won't even give me z-pack and I hear it does work wonders.

  6. I binge blog (I spend the week reading/reviewing/commenting, weekends writing discussion/long posts & schedule everything) so this doesn't occur a lot with me. I do skip posts sometimes like this Sunday, and I feel so guilty. I know how you feel. Luckily, I don't really ever get that sick so I can't really relate.

  7. I never get sick either! I haven't been sick since... well a few years now, not even with a cold. So when this came a long I really thought it was just a cold and I was patiently waiting for things to pass and they just weren't. Coughing just continued. But I do feel guilty.. "I need to comment back to people! I need to visit blogs! I need to post something!" But in the end the bed won. Which I suppose is the way it should be.

  8. I'm sorry you're sick but glad that something wonderful came from. Loving this post!

  9. Oh man now that is scary then! My dad lost his spleen last year and I worry about the next time he gets an infection. For people like you that's why I wore a mask in the Dr offices I visited during this time. I can't stand when I go to an office and someone is clearly coughing away and not wearing one. They should be thinking of people like you and my dad and protecting you.

  11. HA!! I know right??? This is the first time I have really even felt like getting on the computer.

  12. Lol, great gifs! Sorry to hear that you've been so sick though ~*hugs*~

  13. Oh, poor you ! Take care of yourself (or better, get someone to take care of you) and rest all you need. Love the Big bang theory, by the way !

  14. Being sick is no fun. Feel better soon. Pretty sure I read while I'm sick, but blogging is the least of my worries.

  15. Ha! Nice use of gifs. I'm so lazy when I'm sick, I can't actually write something myself, so I just read other blogs.

  16. I always think I will get reading and blogging done when I am sick or even on vacation but it never happens. I hope you are feeling better! Nothing is worse than a summer cold.

  17. LOL, those GIFs!! But ahh, I hope you get better SOON!! (I hate doing ANYTHING when sick)

  18. Oh being sick and blogging is so not fun! I have my posts schedule enough in advance that that parts not a problem at least but doing all the social media to go with it and visiting others. Blerg not so much. Hope you're feeling better!

  19. Awww, feel better soon! The internet isn't going anywhere :).

  20. I never blog when I'm sick. Even when I want to, staring at a computer screen just makes me feel even worse. I don't tend to read either. Mostly, I just stay in bed and watch TV! Like the Big Bang Theory! :)

Hope you feel better soon! Being ill is horrible.

Yes, it is pretty scary... I never use to be all that concerned about getting sick with a cold or flu before I started having allergies to antibiotics... It's a rite of passage, right? But now I dread the thought and always wonder/worry about what if I get sick with a cold or flu and it turns into something that requires antibiotics... Then what???

Thank goodness, I actually don't get sick all that often with a cold or flu, which is the good new! It's been a year since I had my last cold and I only had two colds the previous year... But still, I avoid being around people who are sick with a cold or flu like the plague and give a wide birth to people I come across who appear to be sick in public (sneezing/coughing) while at the grocery store or drugstore, etc.

  22. My bed has been calling me the last two days now, so I totally get it.

  23. I am sorry about what happened to you. Yours is painful (at least that I have heard). I hope you don't have to get surgery.

  24. I'm sorry you're sick but this post is hilarious! Hope you get better soon and now I want to go watch the Big Bang Theory where Penny ends up getting into online gaming.

  25. Get well soon! I haven't been sleeping well lately due to stress related to my day job. I was awake last night furiously scribbling ideas down in the journal I keep by my bed that were blog related. I hope they make sense when I need to write a post.

  26. Well on the plus side this is a fun post! But it sucks that the pneumonia hit you so hard! Not even feeling like reading is horrible - forget blogging. :) I'm glad you're up to some blogging now, but definitely focus on getting better!

  27. I always think of Sheldon when I am sick... he is hilarious any time he has a cold!

  28. My husband has been forced to take care of me. At first he was like whatever (when we thought it was a cold) and then he stepped up. Of course... having him cook dinner every night is pretty terrifying.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah... I am reading now. When I was really sick though I just couldn't concentrate on the book at all.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I am super lazy too... in fact I have gone back like 8 times to this blog post just to comment to the comments!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I didn't even think about vacation! Yes.. I will bring like 5 books knowing that I will for sure read them. I come home and haven't read any.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks!! I don't like doing anything either.. I try to get my husband to pick up the slack but yeah right.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I have NOTHING scheduled this week for the blog. I was surprised. But then I was like... eh.. not that serious.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love that episode! It is so hard to pick a favorite episode.

  35. I have done that... in fact, last night I was up all night again and actually sat around and worked on the blog. I figured instead of just laying there wishing I was asleep I would just get up and do something. It seems the cough slows down in the daytime so now I just go to sleep about 5 am and stay up the rest of the night. Sucks so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  36. It is awful. The problem with pneumonia is it lasts FOREVER... OMG! Thanks for stopping by and thinking of me!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have had a really difficult time sleeping because of constant coughing. It's been a nightmare the coughing. I went back to Dr and got some stronger meds for the cough. It is very tiring and I can't imagine having it so bad you have to go to the hospital and stay there.

    ReplyDelete
  38. OH YES. YES THIS IS IT PERECTLY. Although that's just how I feel about life in general when I'm sick. A+ on the gifs. x)

  39. Being sick is just so draining, and I hope you're feeling better really soon, Angela! xx

  40. Aw feel better! We have all been there and sometimes it isn't even because of being sick

    ReplyDelete
  41. I hope so too. Yesterday was bad, especially in the early evening. The painkillers didn't seem to be working all that well. Now they seem to be doing okay, just making me itch like crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I was going to put a soft kitty reference on here .. but I didn't think enough people would get it! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well that's true. Sometimes.. we are in the dreaded.. blogging slump!

    ReplyDelete
  44. This is hilarious! Not that you were sick and I hope by now you're all better. I've had those days where I've just been so emotionally beaten down by work I don't even want to look at my blog or books. I totally get this. Hope you are feeling better.

I'm trying to catch up on some commenting tonight actually.

  45. I am feeling better actually. Pneumonia is no joke and I never imagined I would ever catch it. I mean REALLY NOW. I am a healthy adult who hasn't even had a cold in at least a year and a half. So honestly it pissed me off!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I didn't even know there was a vaccine!! I have a follow up this week and am going to ask about it. I want it for sure now that I have had pneumonia

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ahhahaha omg I love The Big Bang Theory gifs so much! I totally know what you mean though. I'm like this when I'm not sick so when I come down with a cold, it's 100x worse. Even though I'm like a week late, I hope you're feeling better!

    ReplyDelete
  48. LOL! I love this post. Really, I do. *sigh* I do hate being sick. Unfortunately, that tends to be me... in the winter. Not so much in the summer. But allergies are equally terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That is another thing that surprised me.. the fact that I was sick in the SUMMER! Summer colds are just awful!! Where do they even come from??

    ReplyDelete
  50. You might be a week late... but I am still coughing. I am much better though. I go in for a follow-up tomorrow. I don't usually ever go in for follow-ups but since I was just so sick, I am totally going. I need to know that it's gone!
