Sunday Post

Let's chat about what's going on this week... on my blog.. on other blogs... on the internet... and just everywhere!    I link up my post to Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves.

This weekend I am off to the Denver Comic Con.  I am only going for one day because we are also going to the San Diego Comic Con this year.  The Oatmeal is going to be there and so is Max Brooks to I hope to see both of them.  Be sure to check back for my post on that! Now off to the Sunday Post:

On the Blog:
-This week I tell you to  Read What You Want!
-I review The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker..Yeah I made it through an audio book!
-There is a new Project Disney this week... Dumbo!

Around the Blogospere:

-I love graphic novels... here are 10 that will help you understand mental illness more.  I thought I would post these since it's Mental Health Awareness Month.
-The trouble with blogging- great post about time management on your blog!
-Usually I can't stand blog tours.  I am sorry people.. they can be boring so I just skim past them.  But this one for the Ruin and Rising book tour with Leigh Bardugo is amazingly fun.  We get to go with the blog Midnight Garden on a lunch date with her.  Super fun.
-Wordsmithonia shares this fun post where he invites all kinds of literary famous people over for a party!

Internet:
If you don't watch epic rap battle you should.   This one is fun... it is Stephen King VS Edgar Allen Poe.  Stephen King even tweeted about it!

Books, Books, Books
Holy smokes you guys!  No more slacking on reading lately.  A lot of books came into the library this weekend.  These include Dreams of Gods and Monsters (which I already started but wasn't able to finish before it was due back) Cress FINALLY came in (Yes I have been on hold since it came out) and These Broken Stars which is my book club's pick for the month.

  4. I'd seen that video around, but hadn't watched it until now. :'D I haven't laughed at an Epic Rap Battle video in a while. This one was gold. King won hands down.

  7. Oh my, first Denver Comic Con and then SDCC - I hope you have a LOT of fun! One of my bucket list items is going to San Diego Comic Con at some point - too bad San Diego and US in general are quite far away from the Scandinavia. Well, one day, hopefully...
    Have a good Sunday!

  18. Oh that rap battle is great! Thank you for the link to the Mental Illness Graphic Novels, I will have to add a couple to my challenge. I agree that I almost always pass up blog tours, and I try my best to avoid them on my own blog unless I am very passionate about the author or book, but that post is a great idea!

  20. I went for weeks where nothing came into the library and then BOOM all the books come in!

  21. I am surprised you haven't heard of any of those books??? Maybe if you saw the covers it would jog your memory.

  22. King always wins... maybe that is why his last name is King??? LOL! Some Epic Rap Battles aren't that funny but this one is great!

  23. You know... I like cons but if you go to too many it just gets boring. We didn't even stay at this one all day. Did the two panels I really wanted to see and then walked the floor and then we left. Still really fun.

  24. I can't wait to get started on those books. Of course here I am blogging... well trying to catch up on blogging. That must be done! Then reading (see where my priorities are??)

  25. Funny that you want to go to San Diego Comic Con and I want to go overseas on vacation. Let's trade locations for a weekend!! ;)

  26. Sure!! I liked your blog post a lot. I did wear comfortable shoes. I went to the San Diego Comic Con a few years ago and learned there that you always where good shoes at cons. Though I should've walked a little more to get ready before the event. My legs were on fire!

  27. I love the Oatmeal too. I was shocked to learn that my husband did not know who that was despite all the Oatmeal books and what not I have been shoving in his face!! lol!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yes.. you and I love the King!! I am glad you enjoying the debate on what adults "should" read. I mean really .... I am getting heated all over again thinking about this!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Read what you want should be the ONLY advice to book readers ;)

  30. I love it... and you are so lucky that all the books are out already! SO JEALOUS!

  31. Thanks for stopping by Kimba. King and Poe were the perfect match up!

  32. ooohhh I wish I could go to your sci-fi con. How fun that you are on the planning board.

  33. Thanks... the ComicCon was a lot of fun and I just posted about it. Rap Battles can be hilarious if you find one that has something you are interested in.

  34. I really enjoyed that blog tour.. mind you we won't all be able to go to lunch with the authors we love. Such a bummer. It was neat though to see her in a Russian restaurant and learn about Russian food.
