Sunday Post

Let's chat about what's going on this week... on my blog.. on other blogs... on the internet... and just everywhere!    I link up my post to Sunday Post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Reader and Stacking the Shelves.

This week I am a little behind on visiting blogs because I have actually been reading.  Yes that's true.. reading. My garden got pummeled by hail this week.   Hopefully it bounces back.  Not that a lot has been growing, but my pumpkins were doing really well.

On the blog:
-I review the book  Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers.
-I talk about the graphic novel you have probably read about on all the blogs Saga.
-I participate in Top Ten Tuesday this week... because it's all about TV Shows
-This weekend is Mini Summer Bloggiesta I haven't been able to get a lot done so far but I plan on working on it tonight
- Comic Adventures Issue #15 is on the blog this week I talk about Fables, Nightwing, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and He-Man.

Around the blogospere:

-Why is blogging worth it?  By Asti on Oh the Books.  Love this!
-Have you guys been checking out Harry Potter month???  Here is a really great post about all the different houses by Blog of Erised.
-Some great book Self Portraits... I really love the Gulliver's Travel one!
- Did you see that World Book Night got suspended right now for lack of funds??  Sad!  I wanted to actually try to participate this year.
-Barnes and Nobles does a Pop-Culture month!  Looks like a lot of fun.
-Utah Book Month is coming!  If you are from Utah or just love the state of Utah be sure to join up!

Internet:
Now in the days of the internet and youtube Weird Al Yankovic isn't what he used to be. We see parodies all the time now. He is actually pretty clever though. I thought this video he just did would be appropriate on a book blog. It's all about writing and using proper English. It's quite funny.

Books Books Books:
This week I finished Gone Girl so be on the lookout for that review. I am going to go pick up Rebel Heart by Moria Young which is the last book in her Dust Lands trilogy.  Of course I got a bunch of graphic novels.

  1. You know, my garden hasn't been growing that well this year either. I started late and then stunted everything by over-watering in the beginning. My tomatoes are starting to grow like weeds finally so I'm taking that as a good sign.

Everyone I know has been sharing that Weird Al video. I think it's taking over the world. :D

YAY for getting lots of reading done. I like those weeks. Good luck with the garden.

  5. Oh poor garden! Mine took a beating this month too. Not hail but we had some horribly hot days while I was working with the herd and then some seriously crazy heavy rain that battered it about. Hope yours is able to bounce back!

  7. I just do reviews practically right after I finish a book. I don't even like to go to bed.. I just want to write the review first or I will be thinking all night about what I want to write.

  8. I started late in planting too. This is because where I live had such a late frost. It is also my first garden so eh.. who knows what I am doing! LOL but the hail didn't help a thing. Thanks mother nature.

  9. I hope the garden recovers tooo but it does look like the leaves are popping right back up (except the ones with broken stems).

  11. Half the stuff didn't grow from the start ... the seeds never took. So then I ran out and bought plants already started but those never did anything. They didn't die.. but they didn't grow either.

  12. Eek on the hail! How awful. Hopefully everything bounces back. Love your raised bed though. I'm definitely curious to see what you think of Gone Girl. I read that in a book club and it had the most mixed reactions of any book ever.

  13. I like the raised bed.. but my garden didn't take off like I thought it would in a raised bed. I think it would've been just as good in the ground. But what do I know?? LOL.. the pumpkins are trying to come back though and that is fun! Gone Girl.. oh that BOOK!!

  14. I love that youtube video. Awesome! Thanks for sharing, and it's too bad about World Book Night. I thought that was a great initiative.

  15. I didn't have much more luck than you. I had tomatoes with not too much trouble but my onions didn't make it and my squashes grew and had blooms but then absolutely nothing happened. Only one green pepper. *hangs head*

  18. I am really surprised about World Book Night too. I thought for sure they were getting enough funding. I did think though that they were giving out a TON of books and had wondered how they were making money back for all those books.

  22. Glad you got some time for reading this week, but I'm sorry about your pumpkins. I hope they recover. Have a great week, Angela! (PS. I still can't get over how great your blog looks! And I though it looked very good before the redesign.)

  24. I loved my design before this design. Shockingly it was a free design. I never found another free design like it. This one is great and I have begun to put my own personal touches on it. I just have enjoyed it so much.
