Question this week:  What keeps you reading beyond the first few pages of a book and what makes you want to stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf.

Well I don't usually have something specific make me get past the first few pages of a book other then just pure guilt.  I HATE HATE quitting a book and I have quit very few.  The ones I have quit have been like 500 or 600 pages long and the funny thing is usually I have about 100 pages left and then I quit.  I recently did it with A Discovery of Witches and Freedom.  I just didn't feel like reading the last 100 pages, I guess I just didn't care anymore.

Oh wow!  What a question!  So I am trying to go for something here that not everyone will use.  Cleary I am a Stephen King fan so I this week I pick Jack Nickleson as Jack from the Shinning.  I love love that book and the movie is good too (those losely based on the Novel).  If I saw him I would probably pray I had a camera on me because no one would believe me... and in the picture I would tell him to look all crazy so I could post it in my Stephen King Fans group on goodreads!!

I just finished reading this book for my YA Book Club's book of the month for July.  Here is the goodreads description :

I liked this book but didn't just adore it.  I thought it was a great idea for a book.  A young girl meeting and falling in love with a Hades type of guy.  I love the whole Greek Mythology themed books.  I have just always loved stories in those settings.  I also loved that this book didn't have a love triangle!  Too many of those lately.  I love that this book has twists too.

What I didn't love was the ending.  I felt it happened so fast and was rushed.  The last two chapters were like a blurr! I have heard soooo much about Meg Cabot but this was my first book of hers.  It does make me want to read others like the Princess Diaries. 

I can't wait for book two, Underworld, in this series because well... it must take place in the Underworld duh!  I really am looking forward to read about a plot that isn't in our world!

Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris

Just finished this book and liked it a lot!  Here is the goodreads description:    "With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Wow.. I can't believe that after this book there is only two more books in the Sookie Stackhouse series.  It feels like yesterday I just started reading this series.  I have actually been reading these books for so long that my first three books in the series are in paperback because at the time they weren't released in hardback!  Then in May I was lucky enough to even get this book signed by Charlaine Harris (go to this link if you missed the post book signing) . It was quite fun!

This book was good but I could tell Harris was wrapping up the series.  A lot of closure in this book and a lot of story telling and not much action.  So I was a little disappointed in that.  There were also a few characters that we have grown to love that just don't even make an appearance in this book. But there are some that we love that make an appearance like Bubba! (love him) I am really ready for the fairy drama to wrap up.  But I suppose that will be the big bang in the last book.

So I am dying to know who does Sookie end up with? Eric?  Sam?  Bill?  Personally I think she might end up with Sam after all... any thoughts on this?  If so please mark spoilers for those who might not have read this book yet!

Let's just say that I love love the Sookie universe and can't wait for the book in the fall the Sookie Companion.  There are  even going to be recipes in that book!

Ok so this week I was so excited for tonight because I was supposed to be the featured blogger on Parajunkee's View's blogger hop!  I am not sure what happened.... :(  So hopefully I get things straightened out.  Good thing I didn't write a post about it!  It was such a let down to see a different blog there tonight!   Anyways....

“When did you realize reading was your passion and a truly important part of your life?”
Well I read all through middle school, mainly Fear Street Books. And then I never read in high school, too busy doing other things. Then when I got married in 2001 and moved to Alaska my husband had to leave for a few months for the military. I picked up a Stephen King book and loved it soooo much I have never stopped reading since.

Question this week: In light of the Summer Solstice. Also known as Midsummer...let's talk about fairies. What is your favorite fairy tale or story that revolves around the fae?

Well I love love love fairies. In fact right now I am finishing up the newest Sookie Stackhouse book which has fairies in it. In fact, the new season preview of True Blood has the fairies in it... though I don't love the look of them. They are not like that in the books:

Personally I little pretty fairies but they are never like that in the books!!!

Waiting on Wednesday (#8)

I am curious if this book will be a movie like the first book in the series, I am number four.  I thought that it was a really good movie.
