Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James -Review

Here is the goodreads description:
When literature student Anastasia Steele is drafted to interview the successful young entrepreneur Christian Grey for her campus magazine, she finds him attractive, enigmatic and intimidating. Convinced their meeting went badly, she tries to put Grey out of her mind - until he happens to turn up at the out-of-town hardware store where she works part-time. The unworldly, innocent Ana is shocked to realize she wants this man, and when he warns her to keep her distance it only makes her more desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her - but on his own terms. Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success – his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving adoptive family – Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a passionate, physical and daring affair, Ana learns more about her own dark desires, as well as the Christian Grey hidden away from public scrutiny. Can their relationship transcend physical passion? Will Ana find it in herself to submit to the self-indulgent Master? And if she does, will she still love what she finds? Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.
WHAT IN THE??? I am going to be the oddball here among my friends but this book was not that great to me. There I said it. It has nothing to do with the sex... believe me I am not shocked by it. It just some of this story was ridiculous. Once I got to the end of the book... it actually became good!! I probably shouldn't have read this book to begin with since I don't like romance novels so what made me think I was going to like an erotic novel? ?? ? ?? ? ?

It is totally another twilight and if you need evidence of this go here: http://dearauthor.com/features/indust...
And I am here at Comic Con right now and can't even figure out why E L James is here... oh hummm cause Twilight is here and it's Twilight fan fiction?  I read the author is now saying it's not even though it was originally posted on a Twilight fan fiction site?

Some of the following may not be appropriate if you are under 18. It's isn't going to be graphic but I just want to warn you:
I have a lot of problems with this book... a virgin becomes a sex god over night? Mr. Grey continuously ejaculates 3-4 times a day??? This guy abuses Ana... he stalks her like a straight PSYCHO, he hits her and then he is allowed to for his therapy. PLEASE. The tampon scene was nuts.

I just can't figure out why soooo many people love this book??? AND one of my biggest issues is we spend the WHOLE book talking about signing some sort of sex contract. Just sign it already. Personally I think there was too many sex scenes. Like I said above at the end of the book when a story finally got going and there wasn't as many stupid sex scenes it started to get decent. And the food issues in this book... eat eat eat. UGHHH with the eating!!!

Well I will confess that I will wikipedia the other books to see what happens. But I just can't take reading sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex again!

Oh and Fifty Shades of Grey is the fastest selling paperback ever:

  2. I agree with you. It really is kind of soft porn. It's not YA, but I've had some younger girls come in and buy copies at the bookstore where I work. YOu can see my review here.

  6. Female readers (and some men, too) who liked 50 Shades will really LOVE the new novel "Starbucks Bitches". Its longer, has more depth, better characters, better romance, better sex, better everything. It is based in Dallas, Texas, and is coffee centric. Here is the description from the website www.starbucksbitches.com:

Five very diverse women band together to form an unlikely, but unbreakable circle of friends, collaborating and scheming their way to better relationships and better lives. When one of them vanishes suspiciously, the others must work together to find her before she disappears forever.

With a wide range of emotional and complicated relationships that span the highs (and lows) of life, Starbucks Bitches takes the reader on a wild ride that is deeply touching, thought provoking, and intensely romantic.

One of the most erotically charged and overtly sexual novels of the century, Starbucks Bitches is an unprecedented adventure in love, lust, and unconditional friendship.

Side note: This book had SO many cool places in Dallas in there, it made me want to go visit them all! Most he names, some he just describes...
