Away to Whimsical Fairy Tale Land- Introduction

Away to Whimsical Fairy Tale Land Introduction

This week kicks off Away to Whimsical Fairy Tale Land.  I am so excited about it because I love fairy tales so much. There is still time to sign up hereMy posts are going to be a little late for this event because my laptop broke yesterday and I had to wait till I got home to get on the desktop computer to finish this post. Now for my introduction:

What is the fairy tale you picked?

I chose to pick Robin Hood.  I love Robin Hood's tale.  Technically... all Robin Hood stories are retellings because Robin Hood is based on tales of a real character.  There is no accurate source material though many people use The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle as the earliest telling so I will be using that book too.

Why did you pick your fairy tale of choice?

I picked this one because I find Robin Hood to be interesting.  I really loved Robin Hood from when I was a kid and would watch the Disney Robin Hood movie.  Love love!  Then when I was a teenager I fell in love with the Robin Hood Prince of Thieves with Kevin Costner.  I mean such an amazing story.  Plus I mean.. the song that goes with the movie???  Swoon.  I was going to post the video here but Bryan Adams has made it to where it can't be embeded.. so we'll go with this:

Why do you love Fairy Tales?

I  think the reason I love Fairy Tales is because they just take me away to a magical place that seems like it's fun. I suppose I love Fantasy and to me that is what a Fairy Tale is. Plus maybe it's because my mom and dad surrounded my sister and I with Fairy Tales when we were young.

What are some of your favorite Fairy Tales?

I have so many I love!! Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland. I love Villains so much. Maleficent is my favorite.   I have actually read most of the source stories

That's all.  Be sure to stop by back and check out my review of a Robin Hood retelling.

  1. I just went to see The Heart of Robin Hood on the weekend and it was so much fun - one of the best retellings ever! It's not often that I leave a play and think to myself, I could see that again (not that I don't enjoy them, but usually once is enough!) but I would definitely go again if I could get tickets again before it closes!

  2. Don't shoot me but I haven't watch the Disney Robin Hood film! Actually, come to think of it, I haven't seen much Robin Hood stuff. Hopefully the Once Upon A Time TV series counts? Yikes, I obviously need more Robin Hood knowledge, looking forward to your other Robin posts! :D

  4. Whenever I see "Prince of Thieves" I tend to think "Men in Tights" LOL But Prince of Thieves is a fab movie, it's great that that is what made you a fan of the story. This tale is perfect for this event since there are so many ways of looking at the story.

    P.S. I hope you're Mac is fixed!

  8. My Mac... well right now it's like magic. I took it in today and they put a new D key on and opened it and cleaned out the keyboard area and everything seems to be working now. Sooooo who knows?

Prince of Thieves is so romantic and amazing to me. I just love it!

  10. I think I love Robin Hood because of the same sources - the Disney cartoon as a kid and Prince of Thieves as a teenager. They're just such great characters and great stories :) And the song!!!! so great.

I'm excited to read more of your posts about Robin Hood!

  13. Yeah... well I didn't do as many posts as I could've liked. My keyboard crapped out on me. So.... I got behind. Such a bummer. I did get to read a re-telling though so I really enjoyed that.

  14. I am so glad that I see so much love for Robin Hood. I feel like since there is a guy as the main character Robin Hood doesn't get enough love!

  15. Nice call on both the Disney & Bryan Adams-soundtracked versions of Robin Hood, both great!

Little John from the cartoon is likely in my Top 5 Disney characters

  16. I didn't end up reviewing Robin Hood since I did it for Project Disney before. I wish I could've put more effort into this feature but my laptop was having issues. BOO!
