39 Clues Series: A King's Ransom -Review

I just love this little series.  Each book is a fast quick read but I have really grown to love the characters!
Here is the goodreads description:

Amy and Dan are in a race for their lives . . . and the enemy may be even closer than they think. When seven members of their family were kidnapped by a sinister organization known as the Vespers, thirteen-year-old Dan Cahill and his older sister, Amy, vowed they'd stop at nothing to bring the hostages home. But then the ransom comes in and the Vespers demand the impossible. Amy and Dan have just days to track down and steal an ancient map. The only catch? No one has seen the map for half a century. Now Amy and Dan are on a desperate search that will lead them to the Nazis, spies, a mad king and some of history's dirtiest secrets. It's the race of their lives . . . and one misstep will mean certain death for the hostages.

Another good book in the 30 clue series. I am still glad I picked up these books and started reading them! This one continues the Vespers plot! I looked it up and there is only going to be 6 books in the Cahills VS Vespers. More family secrets revealed! I love how the plot is thickening!  I love the mystery of who V-1 is?

For those of you looking for adventure, mystery, humor, amazing race style book this is for you.  Now we are on the hunt for artifacts and even learning history along the way.

Follow Me Friday (#24)

This is the day of the week where we get to know each other better by answering a question devised by our lovely hostesses Parajunkee & Alisoncanread. We also gain new followers by joining each other's sites via GFC, so please let me know if you're a new follower since I automatically follow back. And now for this week's question....

Q: Many readers/bloggers are also big music fans. Tell us about a few of your favorite bands/singers that we should listen to in 2012.

I am a music lover... books, movies, TV and music is my love!  And I love all music... I have tickets to the Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney concert in July!  And I plan on seeing Celine Dion in Vegas in July too!  I saw Katy Perry in Concert in 2011 and hope she has some new music out in 2012!  Lately I have really been digging all of Adele's new songs... here is my favorite right now!

I can't wait to see the music everyone else is into so leave a comment!

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins review

I read this book for my Young Adult Book Club here is the goodreads description:
Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair: perfect, Parisian (and English and American, which makes for a swoon-worthy accent), and utterly irresistible. The only problem is that he's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her almost-relationship back home. As winter melts into spring, will a year of romantic near - misses end with the French kiss Anna - and readers - have long awaited?

I loved this book! So cute and romantic. Anna the main character really seems like a real person.  I love that the book takes place in Paris.  I hate to fly so I like to read books about places I will never go!  I am totally interested in reading Perkin's other two books.

The romance in this book is spot on to young adults.  I had a boyfriend or a friend just like Etienne in high school.  He was with me but he wasn't. He had a girl friend in another school.  And so I never knew what was going on with them just like Anna and Etienne.  Anna is a great female protagonist in the novel.  No she doesn't save the world.  But she is an average teenager dating for the first time, getting drunk for the first time, fighting with friends, and going to high school.

In the book the characters keep meeting at Point Zero in France and I want to go there soooo badly!

Go pick this book up now!!

Avatar The Last Airbender: The Lost Adventures Review

I love love the Avatar cartoon (not the movie..yuck).  So when I saw that NetGalley  had the graphic novel I had to get it. Here is the goodreads description:

One of America's hottest shows returns! For three years, millions of eager fans tuned in each week to watch Nickelodeon's hit animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. Ever since, fans have been hungry for more - and now their wait is finally over! This volume collects the long-out-of-print, fan-favorite comics previously published in Nickelodeon Magazine and with the Airbender DVDs, plus over 70 brand-new comics pages. That's over 26 stories set in Airbender continuity, by a host of top-notch talent, many of whom worked on the original animated series itself.
This is the first time I have read a graphic novel for my Nook. I liked it.. but I'll admit, it was hard to read. The lettering was very tiny. I think it is because it was a NetGalley so it came through as a PDF so I couldn't zoom in or anything. But I loved the stories. If you are a fan of Avatar then you will love this graphic novel!! Aang is into all kinds of new adventures not seen on the show. I took a few pictures...

Here is an example of the small writing.. I zoomed in on the screen:

The stories were great... but since the writing was tiny I gave the graphic novel 4 cats!  Can't wait for the new season of Avatar! For those of you who haven't seen the trailer here it is, the new season is called The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra

Follow Me Friday (#23)

This is the day of the week where we get to know each other better by answering a question devised by our lovely hostesses Parajunkee & Alisoncanread. We also gain new followers by joining each other's sites via GFC, so please let me know if you're a new follower since I automatically follow back. And now for this week's question....

Q: Go count the number of unread books sitting on your shelf. How many?

I haven't put a lot of reviews on here this past week because I am helping out with my new born nephew. BUSY and NO SLEEP!  But the reviews will come back next week!  I have 107 to-be-read books.  I know it's not a lot but I try to keep my list low so that it doesn't seem so daunting.  What is the number of your list???

Follow Me Friday (#22)

This is the day of the week where we get to know each other better by answering a question devised by our lovely hostesses Parajunkee & Alisoncanread. We also gain new followers by joining each other's sites via GFC, so please let me know if you're a new follower since I automatically follow back. And now for this week's question....

Q: The New Year is here — and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolution! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog?

Wow!  So for 2012 I would like to just work on a few things.  First I don't want to focus so much on getting followers.  I have to remember that if the content is good the followers will come.  I am going to try to put a "about the author" mini box that pops up when people leave comments.  I have seen it on other blogs and just need to figure out how to do it. I would also like to change my "stars" for the books.... right now I use cats and would like to use something else.  Not sure what yet.  Lots of work to do... but I love to blog so I am happy to do it!

First & Last: What was the first book you read in 2011
and the last you finished in 2011? How do you feel about these books?
Would you recommend them to other readers?

I love this questions... let me see.... so it looks like the first book I read was... The Making of Empire Strikes Back  which to be honest I don't even remember this book!  So I would not recommend it.  HAHA!  It must've not been a book I read from cover to cover.  I probably just looked at the pictures in it.  And the last book I read this year was The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern which I did enjoy and would recommend if you like books that are real descriptive.  All in all I am a little disappointed in how many books I read this year.  I thought I would read way more then I did... but next year I plan to read a lot MORE!!  100 maybe!!

Happy Follow Friday everyone!! And Happy New Years!!
