Hello!  You know I love my ebooks... and free ebooks=fantastic! The Novelholic posted about it and I saw the news there!  So till tomorrow Songs for a Teenage Noman by Kim Culbertson is free on ereaders!

Mailbox Monday (#4)

Soooo I am starting to figure out the blogging community and discovered that the memes are done the day before.  So mailbox monday is actually mailbox sunday!  HAHAHA!  So this week my mail box includes a copy of Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris,  and Passage to Dawn by R.A. Salvatore.  I am sooooo behind on a book review because I have been slowing plowing through A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness  It is an OK book, but it is long and taking me forever to read it!  


I haven't actually put my hands on Dead Reckoning yet, my aunt bought it for me up in Denver. I will pick it up on Wednesday of next week... the same day Charlaine Harris will sign it!

 

And Passage of Dawn is an ebook... so I will start it after some other reads.  One thing I do miss when reading an ebook is actually having a book in my hands!  What is in your mailbox this week?  I would love to read about it!

American Vampire

Remember when vampires were scary?  No well.... this is a great graphic novel that portrays vampires as scary again.  I sat here with a dang sore throat tonight reading this book... loving the scary pictures.  Here is the synopsis from goodreads:

This volume follows two stories: one written by Snyder and one written by King. Snyder's story is set in 1920's LA, we follow Pearl, a young woman who is turned into a vampire and sets out on a path of righteous revenge against the European Vampires who tortured and abused her. This story is paired with King's story, a western about Skinner Sweet, the original American Vampire— a stronger, faster creature than any vampire ever seen before with rattlesnake fangs and powered by the sun.

I borrowed this book from the library because I do find that I don't read graphic novels twice.  I also am going to post pics from the internet of the drawings in the novel because I feel you will be able to see the art better then if I tried to take pictures myself.  

 

Waiting on Wednesday (#3)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, where we have the chance to share what upcoming releases we are on the edge of our seats in anticipation for.

This week I am looking forward to Smokin' Seventeen by Janet Evanovich.  Release date June 21st!  I love love the Stephanie Plum novels.  You read through them real fast but they sure are fun!   I can't believe there are seventeen books in the series now!  Can't wait!!  In fact there is going to finally be a movie based off the Stephanie Plum book staring Kathrine Heigl, no release date yet!

This week I have chosen to do a graphic novel that I am reading.  As you can see by looking at my about me page, not only do I love YA but I also love Stephen King.  Within the last few years King has begun taking his books and turning them into comic books.  He has now done this with his Dark Tower series, The Stand, and now a Vampire story.  I used to buy the comics after each one came out but honestly that was kinda a hassle.  So now I wait until they are out in one volume (a graphic novel) and just check them out from my library.  I just received American Vampire from the library.  It's true I only picked this up because King wrote the first five stories and I am not sure yet if I will read volume 2 (due out May 25th). 

Since this is a graphic novel I am not really following the directions this week.  Instead of putting a couple sentences I am going to feature 2 pages to show the art work.   I think the art work is a great tease because it shows that this is a vampire novel that is about vampires in the 1920s!!  FABULOUS!

Author Appearance

Hoping to get into the event in Denver when Charlaine Harris is having a book signing.  My aunt is picking up the book for me tomorrow since I don't live in Denver and then I am supposed to show up on the 11th of May to get it signed.  Wish me luck people that I get a numbered ticket!
