Book Club October Picks

Looking for someone to discuss a book with? Some of you may know I run two book clubs on Goodreads.  One is the Young Adult Book Club and the other is the Stephen King Fans group.  Both groups are open to everyone.. so be sure to stop by and join us.  We have just started our September discussions so it is the perfect time for you to stop by.

This month for the Young Adult Book Club we are reading Nightshade by Andrea Cremer. This looks like a great series!

Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything- including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?
Next up in the Stephen King Fans group we are reading Red Dragon by Thomas Harris.

Will Graham stands in a silent, empty house communing with a killer. An FBI instructor with a gift for hunting madmen, Graham knows what his murderer looks like, how he thinks, and what he did to his victims after they died. Now Graham must try to catch him. But to do it, he must feel the heat of a killer's brain, draw on the macabre advice of a dangerous mental patient, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, and follow a trail of microscopic clues to the place where another family has already been chosen to die--and where an innocent woman has found the Dragon first

I loved reading Red Dragaon years ago so much that I read it twice!! The movie version does a pretty good job of following the book.

  2. I've read Red Dragon, and I remember enjoying it although it has been so long ago. Probably before I really should have been reading that type of book. I was a rebel reading child.

  3. I think I might actually have Nightshade - if not I know I've seen that pretty cover before.

  4. I read Nightshade but for some reason didn't move me to continue with the series. Now, Red Dragon I loved!

BTW, I love your new design. Well, it's been there for a while but I usually check your blog from my cell and it doesn't show. I rarely use the computer, like now, and I'm just wow!

  6. No way no way no way, you guys are read Red Dragon? I've wanted to read that book for as long as I can remember but never really get the chance, plus I love the television show it's based on. If I can make time I'll definitely be joining you!

  10. I think I'm definitely going to join the YA bookclub next year! Though I suppose I could join now and only start participating next year- I go on a 2 month internet hiatus from december-january, and november is nanowrimo, so it wouldn't be much use starting until then, I don't think, but I've wanted to join a bookclub of some sort for a while now, so I think I shall! I hope your reads this month are both good (better than Beauty Queens, at least!). x

  11. I've actually read both of these already. YAY me! Nightshade was of course amazing; I'm a huge fan of Creamer's entire werewolf trilogy. I devoured Red Dragon years ago, and am probably due for a re-read, so thanks for the reminder!

  24. Did you join?? I didn't end up joining this month. Took a blog and reading break.

  25. A lot of people seem to like that book a lot.

  26. Oh man... that 2 month break again!!! NOOOOOooooooo!!! I understand though. I took about a month break this month. Though I did still visit and look at other blogs. Though not commenting as much. It was nice... though I was still on the internet doing other things.

  27. Glad that you liked both! Did you stop by the group and talk about the books? right now it seems like no one in the group really liked Nightshade.

  28. I didn't end up reading a long with the book club picks this month. I took a blog break and a reading break. Though I miss it. Spending some of today blogging has been fun and refreshing.

  29. I just now saw this!! All is well. Just took a mental break. I get anxiety every now and then really bad (last time was 2007) and it is awful when it happens. I just can't concentrate ... I don't want to read... I don't want to deal with anything. But today I thought... time to get back to do things I love.
