It’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the wonderful blog at
The Broke and the Bookish! We are talking this week about movies and books to get you in the mood for Halloween. I am not much of a horror movie person. I just don't like gore or to be scared. There are a few fun movies/shows though that I enjoy that are spooky but not scary.
What about you?? Do you have any fun Halloween movies that you watch each year???
I usually try to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas sometime between Halloween and Christmas. And, I love Hotel Transylvania. It's my new favorite kids' show. Other than that, my husband and I will often watch something scary (if I can handle it), but we don't have specific movies we watch.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I haven't seen The Nightmare Before Christmas or The Corpse Bride but they both look really fun. We have watched The Great Pumpkin thousands of times it seems like because the Tornado got obsessed with it. I can now quote it and yet it's still great. Love your list!
ReplyDeleteCharlie Brown would be at the top of my list... and maybe Clue. Like that movie, even though it's a little dated. Gremlins too maybe... :)
ReplyDeleteI love Clue!!! I could go on and on about how much I love that movie, and the game of course.
ReplyDeleteHotel Transylvania is so fun. I have seen it several times. I think it's funny and fun. That is my type of Halloween movie.
ReplyDeleteThe Great Pumpkin is such a feel good show! I love it!
ReplyDeleteYoung Frankenstein is our Halloween movie of choice. So funny.
ReplyDeleteI love all of these movies. We just watched the Toy Story of Terror a few days ago on Disney channel. These are great picks.
ReplyDeleteI'd list mine but you've already read about those on my blog. I love this post.
Oh I loved Hocus Pocus. It's been ages since I saw that.
ReplyDeleteOh, Ghostbusters ! It's been too long since I've watched it ! I absolutely adore Tim Burton and need to check out the other films. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy to see familiar movies on this- there are quite a few I wouldn't have thought to put on, like HP, but that is such a perfect choice. (Actually, I think that's the only one... oh well.) Ghostbusters! I'll have to watch a bunch of spooky-80s movies after halloween, I think.
ReplyDeleteOH! What is the Toy Story one like? I haven't seen that, and don't know... is it still available to watch, or on DVD? That would be so fun.
I always try to catch Hocus Pocus around Halloween. I love that movie. Great list!
ReplyDeletesuch a great list! I don't like scary or horror either so it's good to be reminded that there are fun, spooky options out there. I usually just tend to just roll right through Halloween without much fanfare.
ReplyDeleteYeah... I thought this was a fun post too. A Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown will be on TV again tomorrow night. I will for sure watch it and check it out again!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I have never seen that movie. I need to watch it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun movie!
ReplyDeleteI have seen Harry Potter soooo many times. But I can always re-watch it. I just love it. I used to watch it all the time while studying in college.
ReplyDeleteThe Toy Story one is on DVD. It's only half hour long ... in fact ABC might show it again tomorrow along with The Great Pumpkin. I would be on the look out if I were you.
ReplyDeleteHocus Pocus is fun!! I love it and have it recorded.
ReplyDeleteYeah... I am not into gore or scary movies. Saw and movies like that are just terrible to me.
ReplyDeleteACK! Yes you do.
ReplyDeleteI love the Corpse Bride! It was so freakishly weird and hilarious and the music. AH I LOVE THE MUSIC. I play Victor's Song on the piano and the duet with my sister, and it's fabulous fun. :)
ReplyDeleteAll great films. I love them all! Especially the Hotel Transylvania. It's new but can easily join the list of classics.
ReplyDeleteA thousand times Hocus Pocus!! I loved that one growing up and still think it's all sorts of fun. I like that one with Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, too, but I guess not enough to remember the title. Gah...need more coffee. ;)
ReplyDeleteNightmare is my favorite halloween and Christmas movie! Tim Burton films always work for this time of year!
ReplyDeleteI love all of those except I haven't seen Corpse Bride and the Toy Story ones yet. I love The Nightmare Before Christmas and Charlie Brown so much! And of course Harry Potter! Pumpkin juice!! I just saw Hotel Transylvania with the kiddos back in May, and we all really loved it. So funny! These are all great choices! :D
ReplyDeleteI love this movie too.... I think it's just magical.
ReplyDeleteI think Hotel Transylvania is good... I just love to watch it. I think the humor is spot on. I know your list would probably be completely different then mine, that's for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah... that movie was called.... something Magic. I can't think of the name of it either. OOPS. LOL! It was a popular book too I think. Practical Magic or something?
ReplyDeleteYeah for Tim Burton!! I love him... well most of his stuff anyways.
ReplyDeleteToy Story is so fun. It's only half an hour on TV. I think you can get the DVD too. I tried Pumpkin Juice when I went to the Wizarding World and it wasn't that good. Kind of yuck actually. LOL!
