Follow Me Friday (#39)

This is the day of the week where we get to know each other better by answering a question devised by our lovely hostesses Parajunkee & Alisoncanread. We also gain new followers by joining each other's sites via GFC, so please let me know if you're a new follower. And now for this week's question....
Q.  Summer Reading.  What was your favorite book that you were required to read when you were in school?

A. For me it was Mythology by Edith Hamilton and The Odyssey by Homer.  I really loved these books in Advanced English class my senior year in high school.  I think this is what started me loving fantasy so much!!  I love to read about all the Gods and sometimes think how cool it must've been to have several Gods who represented different things (love, war, wisdom).

I also really loved the Disney movie Hercules.  I just love how it mixes all the gods and the cartoon makes them teens.  Oh and I REALLY love the God of War games.  These are fantastic... and the mythology in the cut scenes is excellent.

What about you???

  2. I don't remember if I got to read The Odyssey in high school but I totally get what you mean by being very intrigued with all the Gods. I absolutely love mythology and would have rather read those than any other books... Now that I mention that, we read Beowulf my senior year... that book, I loved. Thanks for stopping by my FF. Have a great weekend :)

  3. I never read Mythology. I vaguely remember the Odyssey, but it could have been the Iliad. Not sure.

  4. Hi Angela!
I loved Mythology and how it had so many stories, nearly all of them, short and sweet :) I think I prefer the Illiad over the Odyssey, purely because the school system, or teachers really, over-teach the story until it becomes unbearable. GREAT choices!

I didn't have those books on my required reading lists, but they sound fun!
