I love pop-up books. Especially the newer ones that have been coming out. I wish my library had more of them. I had to get this one through the inter-library loan. I try not to ask for too many of them.. but since this is OZ month at the blog I had to request it. A lot of times pop-ups are real simple and for kids. But ever since the Star Wars pop-up I think that has changed the pop-up books a lot.
I love how you can read the story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz along with the pop-up. Making this a fun and perfect gift for someone who wants a fun way to read the book. The book provides you Green Glasses like you are really in Oz. Of course I had to take a picture of the Emerald City as if you were looking through the glasses.
This one is a little harder to see. It is when you meet the Wicked Witch of the West. On the right side when you open and close the side white page the witch "melts" down onto the ground. Neat.
This page takes place and the end of the book. It is the hot air balloon with the wizard hanging from it. I love this page.
I love this one too. It's at the beginning of the book and you can see some good detail here. For one Dorthy and Toto inside the house. Then the silver slippers where the house landed!! The shinny yellow brick road is also in this picture, and well as the tornado.
There are a few more pages that I didn't take pictures of. Those pages are just better to be seen. One of them has the tornado that picks up Dorthy and Toto. When you move the page back and forth the tornado looks like it's spinning.
The crystal ball says:
Sun is shinning!!! Great day to go outside and read this book.

DeleteOMG I love pop up books!! I have one for The Sound of Music and my family made fun of me when I told them I wanted it as a birthday present. :) This book looks so gorgeous, I think the story lends itself well to a pop-up book! The green glasses is such a nice touch too.
ReplyDeleteYou need to do a review of the Sound of Music pop-up so I can see it!
