Q. Who is your favorite character?
A. WOW.. this is a tough question this week. Who is my favorite character out of the ENTIRE series? I have to say that I love Snape. I love that Snape loves Lily and does for all time. His love for her is really amazing. I love that he loved her from the time they were kids. He did many things he didn't want to do for the love of her. Even her child.
His love really is epic, I admit, but he didn't have to be such an ass to Harry! I guess he was bitter and hiding his true self, but he was also a bully and I am not such a fan as others are.
ReplyDeleteI agree that he was a hero in the end, but he could have gotten there in a better way.
I do think he was a little mean to Harry. I think it was because he thought probably that he and Lily should've been married and had a child. Plus he took out what James did to him in high school on Harry. But he was a good guy, right???
DeleteAwwww such a great choice, and I agree with you that it's awesome that everyone has picked someone different! Such a hard decision to make though. I love Snape too, I loved to hate him at the beginning but he absolutely broke my heart at the end.
ReplyDeleteI know... at the end of the book when I realized just why he was how he was I felt bad for not liking him. Poor Snape!
DeleteOut of all the HP characters, he probably surprised me the most when he revealed how much he had loved Lily. The scene where Harry sees Snape's memories in the Pensieve in DH guts me every time.
ReplyDeleteOh man... it is so hard to watch. And Alan Rickman does such a good job of showing the emotion I believe Snape really felt when Lily died.
DeleteOh Yes! I just chose Snape as my Blogger's Choice Sidekick of the week. I chose him for exactly the reasons you mention. He is such a fascinating character! As a reader, you think he's just this mean, nasty character until BAM revelation!! Then he's this totally different person and everything is in a new light. I love it. Great choice! DeleteFun meme, I have to say Snape is definitely one of my favorite characters as well, I remember crying in the movie theater over his death because I had no idea what to expect (I hadn't read the books yet) Now I want to watch all the movies again!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I would've felt if I had seen the movies before the book! At least I was prepared for the meltdown. Just an amazing love story. I would love for someone to love me unconditionally like Snape loves Lily.
DeleteAww when I watched the movie that part was so adorable i kinda hated Harry's dad for taking her instead of Snape. D: For like the longest time I really felt like Snape was a bad guy then conflicting over that he's good and then bad and I didn't know what to feel about him! I need to read the books if it's similar to what I feel about in the movies.
ReplyDeleteSo you haven't read the books yet? (SHOCKED). I love a good villain. But I really love a good villain who is evil for love (look at Star Wars).
DeleteI've only read the series through once (though some of the later books twice) but I've always wanted to start again knowing what I know now about Snape. I definitely think he's one of the most complex and well thought out characters in the series!
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I have a favorite but if I HAD to choose I guess I would go with Dumbledore.
I love Dumbledore too... but to this day I am annoyed that he didn't tell Harry more and kept so much hidden from him. Perhaps if Dumbledore had told Harry more he would still be alive!
DeleteSame here! I love Snape so much! I cried so badly when Snape died, in both the book and the movie! He's such a loyal and faithful friend! Why did he have to die like that? *cries*

DeleteThis is a super tough question, and I wouldn't even know where to begin choosing. Snape is a great pick though, and I love that he's not a conventional villain at all.
