I am going to participate for the first time in a read-a-thon. I really need to get caught up on some books and when I saw others participating in it I knew it was perfect for me. If anyone has done it before and has some advice let me know!! I would love to get any tips!
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 13th and runs through Sunday, August 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 5.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. -From the Bout of Books 5.0 team
Don't forget to use the #boutofbooks hashtag when updating on Twitter and follow boutofbooks.
I will be updating my progress here and on my my twitter page.
Time Devoted to Reading
I will be reading 4 hours a day/during the week/ not exactly sure how much reading I will get in on the weekend.
My Goals
Well this is my first read-a-thon. I always see people participating in them and thought you had to read for like 24 hours and what not. And I am really not into doing that. I stop paying attention to the book if I get too tired. So I think this read-a-thon is perfect!! I'd like to read four books. I want to participate in everything! The twitter chats, the blog posts, contests, everything!!Books to Read

Number of hours read: 2 1/2 (I was a lot more busy today then I planed. At 2 pm I went upstairs to read decided to take a nap and slept THREE hours!! What is that about???)
What else I did: Review for Operation Trinity, participated in the twitter chat (hope my non-book reading friends don't unfollow me on twitter because of all my posts), I thought it was pretty cool that #boutofbooks actually trended on twitter and I helped make it happen!!!, I also am going to just update this older post instead of posting yet ANOTHER Bout of Books post. So check for my updates here.
Tuesday
Number of books I've read today: 0
Total number of books I've read: 1
Number of Hours I've read: Today I got maybe in one hour of reading. Not my fault though. Some friends came over who were bored and so I didn't get to read. Maybe if they leave shortly I can read till 1 AM!!! I did get my Challenges done though and so that was fun. I thought today's challenges were fun and engaging... and since my friends were here when I did it I made them help me with a Limerick!
Wednesday
Number of books I've read today: 1
Total number of books I've read: 2
Books: Incarnate
Number of Hours I've Read: Today I was a champion! I started reading about 11 AM and read all the way till not 11:30 PM. I took a break for lunch and dinner... and a shower so I must've read like 7 hours! THAT'S right. I finished a whole 400 page book today. I missed the twitter chat at 7 pm because I was reading and forgot about it!!! I stopped by a few blogs today and left comments this morning and I completed the two challenges. I can say for a fact today was a productive day. But I am pooped! Off to bed!
Thursday
Number of books I've read today: 0
Total number of books I've read: 2
Number of Hours I've Read: A friend came over again today since they were bored so I entertained again and didn't get to read. I did stop by a few blogs though, got the challenges done and posted my review on Incarnate. I am trying to get a little reading done now. So maybe half hour today of reading. :(
Friday
Number of books I've read today: NONE
Total number of books I've read:
Number of Hours I've Read: This was the worst day yet! I was busy all day with chores!! And then tonight I went out with a girl friend. That was really fun and worth missing reading for, but otherwise it was a disappointing day as far as reading goes. I didn't even get to do the challenges!!
Saturday
Number of books I've read today: 0
Total number of books I've read: 2
Number of Hours I Read: I got to do the 3 challenges for the day and I got about 2 hours reading done. I went to the stock car races tonight so I lost a little bit of reading time there but it was a ton of fun. Looking forward to finishing up my read-a-thon tomorrow!!!
Sunday
Number of books I've read today: 0
Total number of books I've read: 2
Number of hours I read: 2 hours. Well well.... this read-a-thon was soooo fun!! I met a lot of new bloggers.... (not sure if they remember me since so many were participating). I joined in a twitter chat, I visited a lot of blogs and commented. I participated in all the challenges except for Thursday's. I missed a lot of reading because of a bug-a-boo friend who was bored because college hadn't started yet. This will NOT happen next time around. This is one of the reasons I only got 2 books read. I even WON a book from one of the challenges... the movie challenge hosted by
Pretty Deadly Reviews . Which is pretty cool because I enter a million giveaways and never win!!! So I can't wait to get Beautiful Lies by Jessica Warman. I really did have fun and will for sure be joining next time around. I enjoyed the community of bloggers who were apart of this!!!

ReplyDeleteRead-a-thons tend to differ for each one - some are an intense reading spurt over 24 hours and some are more leisurely over a full week. I can't really do the former, but the full week ones are so much fun :)
