Follow Me Friday

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

This is the day of the week where we get to know each other better by answering a question devised by our lovely hostesses Parajunkee & Alisoncanread. We also gain new followers by joining each other's sites via GFC, so please let me know if you're a new follower. And now for this week's question....

Q. Confess your blogger sins. Is there anything as a newbie blogger that you've done, that as you gained more experience you were like-- oops

A.  Well yes.. at first I thought I need to post all the time.. and that I needed all these followers.  So I would participate in all the memes and do everything to be involved.  But then I realized that if people like my blog and they like me then they are going to follow.  And people who like me .. just might mention my blog by word of mouth.  So now I just post when I read something and only participate in meme's when I feel like it.  I don't want blogging to be like a job.  Also... I used to use google images on my blog and then I found out this was illegal and that people are even being sued for it.  SCARY!

What about you????

  1. I thought memes were so awesome at first too, but then it felt like I was posting nothing but fluff. So, this is my only (not blog specific) meme that I participate in right now.

  2. New follower via FF. I'm petrified of misusing someone else's art so I don't google image anything. lol I had a personal blog, but stopped writing in it. I liked the idea of doing book reviews to share my opinion, even if no one is listening. lol

  3. Excellent response! I only participate in 2 weekly memes. Top Ten Tuesday and this blog hop, but I'm trying to space them out and not overwhelm followers. I'm also of the mindset of not double posting on a day, if I can help it. I don't want to scare anyone off.

  4. Nice post. This is the only meme I participate in. I just heard about the google image thing recently and now I'm wary about using it.

    1. Yea.. that google image thing is scaring everyone. Not to mention people copying other people's reviews and posting them on their blogs as their own!

  5. Yeah that is scary about the images. I still don't know if what I have is 100% legal. I try to just use goodreads' images. My holiday posts usually have an image from google though. I probably need to learn some tech skills to do things on my own and not have a need for google, but I don't see that being possible.

    1. I have tried some "tech" skills but man I suck in the image department. My husband is really good at it though but when I asked him to help he's like eh. Soooooo... here I am !

  7. It's nice to have a following with people actually interested in your blog's content. I think that's pretty important. Also I post when I feel like it but I try and get stuff up every week :) It's a fun hobby.

    1. If you click on the blockquote.. there is a little font off on the right that says "Get This" click on that and it should take you to a website that shows you how. If you can't find it, email me and I will send you the link so you can get it too!!!

  11. Learn something new every day. See, I had no idea about the Google issue...though I don't typically use photos from there on my blog but can't say I never have. I honestly don't get how someone can sue someone else for using something found on the internet that had no copyright protection on it. People are too sue happy...

  13. Google images certainly seems to be a common theme here. I also did a lot of meme's when I started, I think we all have that follower envy. :D
