This is the day of the week where we get to know each other better by answering a question devised by our lovely hostesses Parajunkee & Alisoncanread. Sounds like GFC is eventually going away.. so you may want to follow by email or bloglovin/feedly (I love both). And now for this week's question....
Q. What were some of your favorite picture books as a kid? If you have kids, what are your favorites to read to them?
A. I love picture books! I am very excited about this question this week because I always like to tell everyone about The Rainbow Goblins by Ul De Rico. This book is amazing. The story is kind of creepy, but I was always a kid who liked a little horror. This book was originally published in 1978.
This book is about 7 goblins (red, orange, indigo, green, yellow, blue, and violet). These goblins lasso rainbows and drink from them. They go to all the valleys and steal from the rainbows. There is one valley that is not scared of the goblins coming and drinking their rainbow. The goblins stay in a cave and the flowers over hear their plans... and well ... I guess I don't want to spoil it for you. But it's amazing. The art will blow you away. It is originally done with oil and reproduced in this book. Ul De Rico actually did a lot of work on the Neverending Story.
In the picture above it's the goblins sleeping and the colors above are what they are dreaming about.
Turns out that in 1996 Ul De Rico made another book in the series called the White Goblin. I didn't really like that book. The art wasn't as amazing.
What book did you pick?? I would love to see it!
