Murder by the Book is a pretty neat independent book store in Houston, TX. I love to visit new cities and discover cool book locations. When you first walk in you see that it is not the huge book stores you are probably used to. It is cute and small. The bookshelves look like they are in someone's home.
I love that along the tops of the bookcases are pictures of all the authors who have ever stopped in for a book signing. You can tell some of the pictures are really old!
On all the bookcases are also a bunch of sticky notes that are all over. This sticky notes are neat .. they are the staff recommendations!
If you are in the Houston area this is the place to stop!! My sister and I loved it sooo much!! I mean the title of the store should make you want to go there!
I think I've heard of this place before (though I might be thinking of another store with a similar name). I can't think of any reason I'd ever be in Houston... but if I am, I'll definitely stop in!
ReplyDeleteHouston is a pretty city... it is worth visiting!!
DeleteAh, so jealous! I have yet to come across an independent bookstore in my area, and believe me-I have looked. I love the sticky note idea, and it's great that they have YA :)
ReplyDeleteNo independent book stores??? Bummer!!
DeleteI love small books stores they are so cozy and usually have tons of hidden treasures. We hardly have any where I live. I love this post and I'm digging the Wonder Woman shirt. Thanks for sharing this little book spot.
ReplyDeleteHA! Only a few people would notice the Wonder Woman shirt!! :)
DeleteI like that open book image where they have the name on the roof :)

It is neat!!! I think it's a clever little store.
DeleteI love the name! It looks great inside too, very quaint and I love shops that have staff recommendations.
ReplyDeleteI think it is nice in there and would be fun to just sit in there a read.
DeleteLooks like a neat store - and is that a Weezer tshirt as well? If so, well done!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Not Weezer... Wonder Woman. But Weezer is cool too!
DeleteI'm in Texas but I've never been to Houston. This place looks soooo neat! I love all the pics you posted and how it's so personable. I would love to visit it. Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.
ReplyDeleteBTW My sis and I would both love the Wonder Woman shirt. We collect them LOL.
DeleteMy shirt is from Spencers!
DeleteI love independent book stores. The book recommendations on sticky notes is an awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteThey were cute... and I love how the notes didn't match. It was like real personal notes someone had written.
DeleteOoh I love the name and the overall layout of the bookstore. so inviting. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI love the name too!! All kinds of mystery books inside!
DeleteWow, I wish book shops in the UK were like this! :o
ReplyDeleteThere must be an independent book store somewhere!!
DeleteOMG. That bookstore is just adorable! I wish I had an indipendent bookstore like that near me. I would so hang out there often! But alas, I am stuck with Books A Million!
ReplyDeleteBooks A Million!! Wow.. I swear you only find those in small towns. The only thing about independent book stores is that they are more expensive then other stores.
DeleteHeck yes! Death by The Book! I love cozy little indie bookstores like that. First, great deals. Secondly, the workers are so passionate about their jobs (i.e. BOOKS) and are super nice. I think I will have to put this on my bucket list for the waiting. ;D
ReplyDeleteIt was a great shop downtown Houston. I would've never thought there was a bookstore in the location it was in.
DeleteAww, great little review of the bookshop! I love the homey feel it has, too. So glad you got to visit Murder By The Book while you were in Houston. :)
ReplyDeleteI love to stop by little book shops!! Sooo fun!
DeleteI love MBTB, it is so unique! I wish the location was more convenient to me and they had better parking options, but the inside of the store is awesome and their events are great!
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the pictures you posted of Murder by the Book! This place sounds really cool! I love independent bookstores. Should I ever find myself in Houston, Texas, then I'll have to make a visit to this bookstore.
