Follow Me Friday (#5)

It's time for the weekly book blogger hops again! A great opportunity to meet new bloggers and say hi to old.

Crazy For Books' Book Blogger Hop
Question this week:  Q: If you were given the chance to spend one day in a fictional world (from a book), which book would it be from and what would that place be?
well I love fantasy books.  And this may be someone else's answer but I would love to be in Rivendale in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.  I love the idea of living there and the movies did such a good job of making the place even more magical then my imagination.

 This weeks' question:
Q. It's circle time. Time for us to open up and share. Can you tell us FIVE quirky habits or things about you? We all have them...  I decided to make my list about books!

1.  Well I MUST stop at the library once a week!
2.  I like to read books on my Nook Color BUT I also like to have a hard copy of the book from the library in my hands too!
3.  I never have the same bookmark... it is usually a scrap piece of paper I find.
4.  I hate when people lend me books they recommend because then I have to squeeze them into my TBR pile in front of everything so I can get the book back to them in a decent time (I would never tell this to anyone else)  :)
5. If a movie is coming out based on a book I MUST read the book before the movie.  I will skip the movie if I haven't read it.  I prefer a book to be a surprise plot rather then the movie.

Well that is all.  Those were fun questions to answer this week!  Leave your comments so I can stop by and read about you!

  1. LoTR is a great choice. I went for Harry Potter this week: http://gabrielreads.blogspot.com/2011/05/book-blogger-hop.html.

  2. I totally have the same bug you do. I HAVE to go to the library once a week or I feel like death is imminent.

I also hate when people recommend a book in real life and yet I can't stop myself from recommending hordes of books to the same people...

    Thanks for the follow!

  3. Oh shoot! I wish I'd thought of Riverdale. Excellent choice. I've been mulling over this question now for about three hours. Picking just one is never easy for me. I've read so many wonderful books over the years. Come see what I chose.

  4. I also have to go to the library once a week, and seem to find myself with too many books and not enough time to read them.
Happy reading and have a great weekend =)

  6. I'm the same way with my books and movies. I have to read the book first, because it's usually better and it's what the movie is based on, so it just makes sense!

    Here's my Friday Hops

  7. New follower, hopping through!

I have to stop at the library at least once a week, but we are usually there a lot more than that! Thank goodness for libraries! I hate it when people lend me books too, for the same reasons!

    Happy Hopping!

  8. I love Lord of the Rings! That was a close second to my Harry Potter answer this week. I would also love to live in Merry Gentry's Unseelie Court...magical, dark, and sexy...yes please!

I am the exact opposite when it comes to books and movies! If I know that a movie is based off of a book, and I haven't read the book yet, I will make sure to watch the movie first and then read the book. I can't stand it when I loved a book and the movie doesn't come close. This way, I almost always am happier once I've read the book, but still love the movie.

I am a new follower (and new blogger)and would love it if you checked out my blog!

  11. You're lucky you can stop in at the library once a week - my local libraries are all pretty useless; and they only really have autobiographies. It's a shame, because if they would order books in, then I'd love to use them!

    Have a great weekend!

  12. I’ve seen a lot of great picks and gathered some fresh titles to add to my ever-growing TBR list. My answer will probably stun most people because the world I picked is a place most people would be scared to death of and try to escape from. Me? I want in.

  13. I hear you about reading the book before the movie. But it has to be a movie/story that I actually want to read or I probably won't want to do either :) Thanks for following, and I'm following you now as well!

  15. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I'm the opposite, I would rather watch the movie first. They always change the movie so much from the book and I don't want to be disappointed when they leave my fav part out.

  16. I'm with you on reading it before you see it at the movies. But then they change the movie so much or leave out things I thought were important - I hate that. Sometimes they do a good job interpreting the book and sometimes they murder it. It's impossible for me to do it vice versa.

  17. Hopping through. I love going to the library as often as I can. I also have to read books before I see the movie.

  19. Haven't read Lord of the Rings.

    Nice blog...first-time visitor.

Stopping by from the Blog Hop.

I would want to be in Louise Penny's fictional city of Three Pines.

Stop by my blog if you like.

  20. Do you mean Rivendell?? I chose the Elven city, too. I love that it's a city, built amongst the trees and the river valley. I bet it would be really beautiful and relaxing.

I'm a librarian, so luckily, I get to "stop by" the library nearly every day.
I love, love, love my nook. I had a Kindle DX as well, but the nook is just so much more magical for me, especially since I can read library books through Overdrive on it.
It's funny though, when I'm reading on my nook, I miss the experience of holding a paper book in my hands. When I'm reading a paper book, I miss the extra features like being able to instantaneously look up a word in the dictionary if I don't know it. I just can't win, it seems.

I used to be totally the same for bookmarks! I'd use a different random scrap of paper, or sadly, just try to remember the page number. (No dog-earing, I can't abide by that!) Until! Someone gifted me with this awesome bookmark, made of a thin sheaf of wood, with a die-cut moose on it, and I use that all the time. It's thicker than a regular paper or cardboard bookmark, so I never loose track of it.

  21. I also have to read a book before watching the movie! Or if it seems like a good movie, but not good enough book, I'll probably not read it at all... Bleh. If it's not a series and the first movie is awesome. ;)

My quirky list can be found here!

  23. I'm the same way with books and movies - I HAVE to read the book first. I like to picture the story in my mind first, before I see Hollywood's version. It's fun to compare my imagination to Hollywood's, you know?

Glad to have found you via the Hop!
