Follow Me Friday

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

This is the day of the week where we get to know each other better by answering a question devised by our lovely hostesses Parajunkee & Alisoncanread. Sounds like GFC is eventually going away..  so you may want to follow by email or bloglovin/feedly (I love both). And now for this week's question....

Follow on Bloglovin

Q. Today is the US' Independence Day.  Share your favorite book with war in it, or a government overthrown.

A.  I love the graphic novels Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi! These novels are about a girl named Marji who talks about her childhood up to her early adult years in Iran during and after the Islamic revolution.  Really it's amazing.   I think if you have never read a graphic novel this is a great one to get you into the genre. I made the next image a little big so you can all read what it says.

These graphic novels really brought out a lot of feelings and helped me understand more about Iran.  There is even a film based on the book that you could check out also.

What did you pick?  Happy July 4th to those who celebrate it!

    1. These are really fantastic. There are quite a few graphic novels that aren't the superhero comics that everyone thinks they are.

  4. I actually haven't heard of any of these, but the graphic novel sounds really interesting. Anything that is powerful and can bring out your emotions is pretty special :)

    1. Funny thing is I haven't seen the movie but only read the book. I think maybe the library didn't have it at the time I read this.
