Sunday Post

Let's chat about what's going on this week... on my blog.. on other blogs... on the internet... and just everywhere!    I link up my post to Sunday Post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Reader and Stacking the Shelves.

This week I made it up to the Botanic Gardens close to me and got to see the Chihuly exhibit I have been dying ot see.  If you don't know who the artist Chihuly is be sure to google him and go find his art near you.   It is the most beautiful glass art ,  the art can be found in many locations all over the
world.  If you follow me on instagram I posted a few more picture of his art there.

On the Blog:
-Book Club August Picks are revealed if you want to check them out and have someone to read a book with.
-I chat about the newHarry Potter UK Covers
-I go and see the film  Guardians of the Galaxy  and let you know if you should see it or not???
-I do a book review on The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black.

Around the Blogospere:
-What if book genres were Pizza by the Notebooke Sisters.  Beware of reading this delicious post because you will want to eat pizza now!
-Happy Indulgence talks about what they've learned in two years of blogging and I agree with everything!  "You're Blog Doesn't Grow Over Night" was my favorite part of the post.
-For all my gamer followers.. have you checked out the Beta fish playing Pokemon??  Love it!
-Bout of Books is coming!! I love this event... if you don't know what it is it's a really fun easy readathon that a lot of bloggers participate in.  Give it a try.
Bout of Books

-Want to do something fun on your blog?  Parajunkie is hosting a neat event where you get to answer some fun questions about books and back to school.

Internet:
This week it was harder for me to find a video.. I just have been busy so I haven't surfed the web as much. Here is the new Mad Max trailer... looks good!

Books Books Books.. I am behind on my Project Disney this week.. I have never been behind. So I am trying to hurry and read The Wind in the Willows and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Hopefully my next Project Disney will be up today or tomorrow!

  5. Mad Max looks like a trip, I saw that trailer the other day and thought it looked kinda like an amped up version of the Road Warrior. I think this one will be a must see.

Liked the book genre/ pizza post, that was great!

  6. I've always wanted to visit the Botanic Gardens. That picture is amazing. It's good you got away and looks like it was beautiful weather. We watched Guardians of the Galaxy today and we all loved it!! I wasn't familiar with the comics but I laughed through out the movie. It does make me want to read the comics. I'm curious about who Star Lord's father is!! Great review and now I'm curious about The Coldest Girl in Coldtown. I do have the book (I bought it since it was on sale and everyone was talking about) so it is was nice to read your review. I'm moving it up on my TBR. Have a great week!

  9. The nice thing about it is that it does go all week long. I don't get a whole lot of reading done but I always enjoy the events and visiting and discovering new blogs. That is one event where I think I come in contact with blogs I would've never found any other way. Happy Sunday!!

  10. I liked the pizza post too... so clever! Makes me wish I could come up with posts like that. The Notebook Sisters is really just a fun blog to follow.

  11. The newer comics don't actually mention who StarLord's father is. So I think that could be more of a movie thing. Though I did read some speculation out there on the internet. Botanic Gardens are wonderful to me. I just enjoy being outdoors and seeing all the flowers and trees. I try so hard to have a nice yard and a garden. I would love to actually work at the botanic gardens too.

  12. I like those little challenges Parajunkie hosts. I think they are fun and if you are in a blogging slump of any type or just need something to post on the blog those are a pretty good thing. Have fun! I can't wait to see your posts.

  13. Thanks!! I think Botanic Gardens are great and fun for the community in the area. Ours has a free day every month so you should check your local one and see if it might have a free day too.

  18. I so want to go see Guardians of the galaxy, too bad I'll have to wait some more. I love visiting gardens but avoid green houses - last time I set foot in one, I came out with red rashes and scratching myself to madness lol. Have a great week ;)

  19. I'm SO GLAD you got to go to a Chihuly exhibit! My husband and I had our last first day (after we got back together 2 years ago) at such an exhibit! :D

  20. Oh no... there is an amazing tropical part in this botanic garden... I don't know if that is the same as being in a green house though??? It is very humid in there that's for sure.

  21. I have always loved Chihuly. I have seen a lot of his art around the US. I had heard about Chihuly's art being in botanic gardens. I almost got to see the one in Phoenix and then it went to Dallas but I wasn't in Dallas at the time to see it. So I was so excited when the tour came here locally.

  22. I'm doing the Parajunkee Back to School challenge as well! Can't wait to "grade" your posts. I'm sure they will all be A+s!!

  23. It was a tropical green house, or maybe it was just one of those days :)

  24. LOLOL! There was another event this week.. "Snark Week" but I missed that event. It was probably announced when I was on vacation. Oh well.. Back To School will be fun.

  25. Me too... I just want to start right now!

  26. Are you in Arizona? Because I could swear my brother went to a Chihuly exhibit when he was there a few months back - the pictures he took were so beautiful! Thanks for all those links I'm looking forward to checking them out. Hope you're having a great week :)

  27. There is Chihuly at the botanic gardens in AZ (I thought it was a few years ago but maybe it's still there). This Chihuly is in CO but it is only a temporary exhibit. So I wanted to get there and see it. If the one in AZ is still there I really want to try to get there and see it!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh you know what? He went to CO too, so maybe I'm getting the trips confused. He's dating a flight attendant and has been on like 10 trips this year. I can't keep them straight LOL

  29. I'll have to tell my kids about the Pokemon game - they love Pokemon! I hadn't heard of it yet. I'm heading over to check out your review of Guardians of the Galaxy - such a fun movie! I really loved it, and it was the first movie we've taken our son to (he's 4) where he didn't ask when it was going to be over! The only other two movies we've taken him to in the theater are The Lego Movie and Spider Man 2. For his age, Spidey 2 was a bit long, and he was impatient any time Spidey wasn't onscreen, lol. Which reminds me, I had a dream about James Franco and a makeout session last night. ;)

I hope you have a very happy Bout of Books! I didn't get a chance to sign up this time around but will next time. :)

  30. Spider Man can be boring. I even get bored to be honest. Spider Man just isn't my guy. Though I will always love the first Spider Man movie, I think that is what launched the superhero craze. That Pokemon fish is fun. I almost forgot I even posted that link.. I was like what Pokemon game?? I don't play Pokemon. LOL!!
