Harry Potter Moment of the Week-Favorite Creature!!

I am participating in Harry Potter moment of the week hosted by  Uncorked Thoughts .  Here is what we do:

This is a meme hosted Uncorked Thoughts.  The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! I will be picking a topic within HP for us to focus on each week and then if anyone wants to take part feel free!  There is now a full list of the topics to come here.

Q.What is your favorite creature from the series?

A.  Oh wow! I have to pick the ghosts (I hope those are creatures).  I always loved reading about the ghosts in the books.  Why they were ghosts.. and who were the school ghosts. the ghosts are silvery and translucent. The ghosts have rotten food on their tables that the flow through to eat.

Some ghosts include: Nearlyheadless Nick, the Bloody Baron, The Gray Lady, Professor Binns, The Fat Friar, Moaning Myrtle, and of course Peeves (but he is a poltergeist).  I was always disappointed Peeves does not end up in the films. That would've been great.  I find it interesting when Harry goes in search of Nearlyheadless Nick to find out if Sirius will come back as a ghost.  Nearlyheadless Nick knew Harry would come to find him to ask that question, and he must tell him that Sirius will not become a ghost (so sad!!).

I love the image from Pottermore of the Death Day party!  I would've love to have gone to this party.

What creatures do you love?

    1. The ghosts always fascinate me in the books. I just wonder are their ghosts other places then the castle?

  2. Great pick! I loved how they had this personal community at school and how every house had one to 'look over' them. And how their histories were entwined as well.
    Awesome pick! :)
p.s.: I ADORE that gif! Look at Ron's face XD

    1. I just wish that Professor Binns had been in the movie. That would've been fun!

  3. Great choice. My favorites are the house elves - particularly Dobby. I'm assuming everyone's read the books by now, but if not SPOILER ALERT - When Dobby died in book 7 was by far the most shocking moment in the series for me. I was so angry with Rowling and I cried so hard.

    1. I like the house elves too.... I really like Spew. I always wondered why more people in the wizarding world didn't try harder to free them!!

  4. I would have liked to have seen Peeves in the movies, too. He caused such mayhem in the books; I loved how extra troublesome he was after Fred and George left in Order of the Phoenix. :D

    1. I know!! I mean the movies couldn't even give Peeves a cameo? And I spelled his name wrong so I am going to correct it.

  6. Ahhh yes! Peeves definitely should have been in the films. It's a shame that so many non-readers miss out on him. Great choice hun!

    1. I agree... they could've just showed Peeves fly by in the film or something like that. A little easter egg for the fans of the books.

  7. Good pick. That gif is really cute, remember when the cast were that young?!

I'm not sure what I would go for - if we're going for a really loose definition of 'creature' then maybe the centaurs, but I know they get offended at being called creatures!

    1. I almost picked the Centaurs. ALMOST. I love them too in the books... but didn't care for how they were portrayed in the movies. I think in the movies they seems mean and not very smart. In the books I think they are so smart and not out right brutal. They have to be provoked.

  8. Ooh, great post, Angela! This seems like a really fun theme for posts- I should join in, one time!

I really like the ghosts, too, and totally agree that the scene in OotP with Nick (about Sirius) was so sad! It's a scene I love, and I wish it had been bought into the film. I would probably have chosen the Thesterals, myself, because I think they're so beautiful, like Luna does, and I just really like the whole idea behind them, even though it's so sad- you lose something but gain something else in return. Great post, Angela!
