Sunday Post

Let's chat about what's going on this week... on my blog.. on other blogs... on the internet... and just everywhere!    I link up my post to Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves.

You may have noticed I was a little MIA with commenting the last two weeks. Lots of traveling and family visiting but I am back into full blogging swing.  I am still patiently waiting for my new blog look... I don't know how much longer I can wait! LOL!  I have been in contact with New Chapter Designs who is creating it and she promises soon!
I did get in my first garden this week and am so excited to see it grow.  My father always has had one and I loved going there and seeing vegetables grow.

On the Blog:
-There was a new  Project Disney - Pocahontas  I enjoyed learning all kinds of new things about her.
-A new Video Game review- I really loved  Dust An Elysian Tail ... so fun!
-Movie review time! Maleficent .  I have been dying to see this one.
-I had a lot of fun co-hosting the Clean Sweep ARC Challenge (Wrap Up Post) .  I am not sure that many people knew I was the co-host, I think they just recognized Kimba.  But it was still fun and she made me feel so welcome.
-Also... I talk about Mental Illness and Books that talk about it.  I think it's important that we get more people reading about it and becoming more familiar with it.

Around the blogospere:
-The Book Blogger World Tour looks fun.  You take the URL of a blog you love and take a picture somewhere in your town with it.  Join up!
- Austen VS Bronte .. Bookish Whimsy debates the two.
-What is a spoiler?  By Readers in Wonderland... I totally agree with this post!
- Is it fair that some bloggers get more books, more hits on their blog, more chances to go to bookish events?  Fiktshun discusses this.
- I am going to link to Fiktshun again this week.. here she is talking about that awful article that was published on Slate this week (I am not going to link to it but it's about the fact that adults should be ashamed of reading YA) Read What You Want!

Internet:
Well as some of you know I love the Rock, so I will totally be seeing this film!

Books, Books, Books,
I just started getting some more library books in since I had a vacation hold on my account for 2 weeks.  I got a new pop-up Marvel book that I will be featuring coming up.  I also just finished listening to the Golem and the Jinni the review will be up next week.

  1. I am purposefully avoiding that Slate article because I don't want to give it any more attention, it's so irrtating. I wish people would stop telling us what we should/shouldn't read! Thanks for the link to the post on spoilers, I'll read that next

And I'm going to read your Maleficent review, I saw it this week and thought it was good :)

I hope you get your blog design finished soon, can't wait to see it!

  4. I haven't read the article but I just think there's so many people on the Internet writing columns- they need something to do and so stuff like that gets printed. Who really cares what people choose to read? :)

Hercules looks good! I love movies about mythology...

OOh nice! Those are some new to me books!

I too avoided the Slate article but I knew it would make my blood rise and I don't need to get angry. I was already pretty ticked from what I heard the article was about! I mean, seriously?! But again, trying to let it go now...but it still gets me pretty heated! :)

    Here's my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

  6. Looking forward to your new blog look - but what you've got going on here isn't bad at all! Have a great week, and enjoy your new library books. And thank you so much for co-hosting the Clean Sweep ARC Challenge. (I recognized your name!)

  9. New follower! I'm avoiding the Slate article too. I just think it would make me angry and I'm an adult who can make my own decisions about which books I want to read. Hope you have a great week!

  10. I don't even know why someone would tell us that we should be embarrassed. I wasn't going to link the article to the Slate post but I had when bloggers write about drama but don't actually tell us what the drama is. So I did link it up. I hope the blog design gets done soon too. I am like going nuts waiting! ;)

  11. BAH! Yes the library... sometimes I think the library might be against me since it constantly gets in new books for me all the time. I totally understand what you mean.

  12. Mine seems to be growing soooo slow. But of course... I didn't get to plant anything till practically June 1st. We got a really late frost here so I am glad I did wait to get any seeds in the ground. So we'll see how things go!

  13. I agree... who does care what people read? I mean .. really??? I didn't really see anyone screaming at women for reading Fifty Shades of Grey (of course Stephen King did say that it was garbage writing). But since it's an adult novel I suppose it's OK right? (sarcasm).

  14. I did avoid the article.. but then I went ahead and read it. I suppose it pissed me off a little. But I heard that she wrote a lot of articles trying to get people heated. Ones about gay marriage and any hot topic you can think of. soooo... whatever!

  15. Yeah!! How fun that you knew who I was! LOL! I could really tell in the twitter chat that most people didn't even know I was the co-host. They kept talking directly to Kimba... LOL! There was nothing she did wrong it's just that she is the bigger name.

  16. I feel like I have been waiting forever for the new design. I commissioned it at the beginning of May and the person doing it had a full calendar .. but my turn is coming up and I can't wait.

  17. Thanks for stopping by. I feel the same. I am adult and I read to escape. Get away from the real world and if I want to read about teens then I want to read about teens damn it! ;)

  18. I saw the Slate article and rolled my eyes at it just like the guy who lumped every romance novel with Fifty Shades. Why do people care? I'm not a huge YA fan but why should anyone be ashamed? I've got the Project Disney saved on Feedly for a time when I actually have time to really read it. I love all the detail you put into them. Have a great week and hope your blog design gets finished soon! I'm sure you're on pins and needles!

  19. Yeah... I don't know why people even care about what others read or why they would feel like they should publish an article on it. I have seen though a lot of bloggers telling other bloggers what to do... and these are small bloggers. Maybe if it's your job... but most of these people aren't paid to read or review books. So to me why persecute them???

  20. The Hercules trailer is impressive ! I hope you had a good time with your family, enjoy your garden. It's so hot here that we closed all the windows so we could keep a little freshness inside. And while I think of it : team Brontë ! Have a great week ;)

  21. LOL! Bronte!! That is great. It has been so cold here... we got down to 52 yesterday during the day. I was supposed to go to a baseball game but glad we canceled because it did end up getting rained out.

  22. When I was a kid I never listened when people told me what I can and can't do or should or shouldn't I have no intentions of starting now :) I read that stupid article and I love my YA reads. Who wants to read old stuffy books. :)

Hope you have a great week Angela!!! Happy Reading

  23. I agree... I just want to tell that lady that not only do I read YA, but comics, ADULT books and everything else. I can have two interests or more.
