Let's chat about what's going on this week... on my blog.. on other blogs... on the internet... and just everywhere! I link up my post to Sunday Post hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Reader and Stacking the Shelves.
Hello! This is a good week as far as blogging. I have had time to get on here write posts and visit blogs. I have noticed when I comment on blogs with captcha that now there are ads. So if you use it.. just be aware that this is what your followers are seeing when they comment and they might just skip commenting:
This week I also want to talk about a podcast I am in LOVE with. I don't like podcasts.. I don't care to listen to people talk about feelings and what not. I can't even stand listening to morning radio shows. So I don't bother with podcasts. Then I kept seeing people talk about the Welcome to Night Vale podcast. I ignored it.. until I went to the San Diego Comic Con and saw people with tee-shirts that said Night Vale on them. So I finally sat down and checked it out. Seriously I am in love. It is a fictional podcast which really intrigued me. The story is presented as a radio show for the fictional town of Night Vale, reporting on the strange events that occur within it. Check it out.. I will review it when I get further into the series.
-I talk about Utah Book Month
-There is a new Project Disney this week! The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
-I'll be participating in Bout of Books 11 , find my goals and updates here.
- I post about a book I am looking forward to: Waiting on Wendesday - Stephen King Revival
-Movie review time Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtles (2014)
- Comic Adventures Issue #17 is published! I talk about Superman, Jack of Fables, Suicide Squad, and Fables.
Around the Blogospere:
-Herding Cats and Burning Soup has a great feature called Blogger to Author where she gives wonderful advice to authors out there and how they should deal with bloggers. Be sure to check out the First Meet post.
-Have you seen all the back and forth between Amazon and writers??? It's crazy. What is the answer to this? Cheaper ebooks is good.. because it's not printed on a physical copy. But in a world where less people are reading should we pay more for books?
-A great post on scheduling your blog posts ahead of time by Snuggly Oranges.
-Do you enjoy high fantasy? RA Salvatore's books the Legend of Drizzt are free right now and are narrated by some great people. Be sure to check it out.
I love these Book Nerd Problem videos by Epic Readers.. the are only a minute long or so and youwill relate.
Books Books Books:
This week I found out that my library is now loaning out Xbox One and PS4 games! So exciting. I checked out Lego Hobbit since I haven't played that one yet. I have quite a few books to read this week for Bout of Books. I really really want to get them read. Dreams of Gods and Monsters, Top Secret Twenty One a Stephanie Plum book, Ruin and Rising just to name a few.
Oh I would play Lego Hobbit..LOL I am so excited to hear you have a pumpkin Angela!ReplyDelete
OOh nice on the book front! All ones I haven't read but hope you enjoy them! And yay for new video games to rent too!ReplyDelete
My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I don't normally like podcasts either- they're just usually boring. I have to say this one sounds intriguing though, I'm curious now.ReplyDelete
RA salvatore books? I haven't read any of those in years, but man- free. Might be worth a listen... :) Liked the Book Nerd video too. Great links this week!
Wow, that's so awesome how your library is lending out games for FREE! I hope you have fun, I've heard good things about the lego games. I've heard great things about Dreams of Gods but I haven't had the chance to play it yet!ReplyDelete
It will be fun to compare reviews. I just hope it doesn't let me down.ReplyDelete
The pumpkin is so fun to watch grow. So far I only have one pumpkin and two squash. The cabbage looks good too. My dad will be here this weekend so he can tell me if it's looking good or not.ReplyDelete
Thanks for stopping by. I will for sure check yours out.ReplyDelete
Yeah a Colorado book blogger!! Excited to have discovered your blog and the fantasy elements on it. Tattered Cover is an amazing indie bookstore and I hope people visit it when they come to CO.ReplyDelete
I can't even stand audio books so you know this podcast is interesting if I listen to it. I usually listen when I am exercising. It is only about 20 minutes and episode so I get about 2 in per exercise session.ReplyDelete
Yes the library has free games.. I love it so much. Tonight I got both Lego Hobbit and the Lego movie game for Xbox One. I am excited to get started playing them.ReplyDelete
I began listening to Night Vale, creepy Dog park ! I'll listen to the rest later, thanks for the link. And for the funny No spoilers video lol ! Have a grea week ;)ReplyDelete
Oh I had that captcha earlier. Was so weird. Totally threw me off. Thanks so much or the mention of Blogger to Author!!ReplyDelete
Ads on captcha? Ugh! That sucks :( I tend to not comment on blogs that use captcha I must admit. I just...hate it lolReplyDelete
So many people have recommended Welcome to Night Vale, I'm definitely going to have to check it out one day!
Ha! I totally laughed at that spoiler clip! I always forget to watch EpicReads but they're really quite funny. I like the teatime chats too. Ugh to that captcha...seriously, it's getting a little ridiculous. And SO many blogs still use it and it drives me crazy during blog hops. I waste so much time just squinting at the screen and pressing random letters hoping they'll be right. >_<ReplyDelete
I liked your post about Utah Book Month this week. :) and Epic Reads does put out some really great stuff!ReplyDelete
I am 100% Positive I am checking out that podcast. It sounds so fun and I loved old time radio show (I'm not old enough to remember them) my dad use to have a CD of old shows. So that sounds like it could be fun.ReplyDelete
Ugh captcha I was on someones blog a while ago and it took me 4 times to get the thing right it was so mushed together!
Good luck with Bout of Books! (I missed it again)
Have a great week!!!
Interesting about that podcast...I'm not one for "listening" to things...I am very visual, which is why I don't listen to audio books. But that Night Vale looks like fun. Enjoy your week...and thanks for visiting my blog.ReplyDelete
I still haven't tackled Dreams of Gods and Monsters yet, but Ruin and Rising was fantastic! Thanks for stopping by!ReplyDelete
Michelle @ Michelle's Minions
How interesting that your library is loaning games. I wonder if ours is - that could really help parents determine appropriateness.ReplyDelete
Oh wow, your library is lending games for free! That’s amazing, you’re very lucky. I'm lucky if I can find a book I want to read in mine :) Captcha drives me absolutely nuts, and it’s getting even more annoying! I’ve noticed the adds a few time over the past week. The only benefit was being able understanding the letters without squinting!ReplyDelete
Hope you have a great week!
Now I am intrigued about Night Vale..it sounds really cool, want to check it out!ReplyDelete
My husband and I played Lego Star Wars together and had so much fun! I can't wait to get back to playing games like again when we have a little more time. Lego Hobbit sounds great and how great you can borrow the games! That was always a downside. Games are expensive. I love the spoiler video! Though I'm one of the weird people that spoilers don't really bother. I seem to develop amnesia when reading. It's very handy! Have a great week!ReplyDelete
I agree with you about captcha on commenting. Seriously, they really piss me off because sometimes, I have to type in the code for 5 times. I mean, I just want to comment, why do some people make it hard for me?ReplyDelete
I've only read the first book of DOSB but I think i'll pick up the second book next year or the year after that. I didn't like it as much as I would. Happy though that you're already on the last book.
Have fun reading!
I don't think our library loans out these games but I had better check this one for family members. Thanks for flagging that up it's a good idea. Ours are good on CD's and music scores.ReplyDelete
Glad you've had a good week! My daughter just started listening to Welcome to Night Vale and really likes it. I tend to prefer more nonfiction in my podcasts - Science Friday, Radio Lab, the TED Hour, and 99% Invisible.ReplyDelete
I've noticed the ads on CAPTCHA, too. They aren't keeping me from commenting, but if they get any bigger, they'll get annoying.
Have a great week!
I'll have to check out that podcast! I used to listen to Twilight Series and Theories, they were sisters that talked about Twilight and other books (which I got a lot of good book recommendations and also encouraged me to start my blog). I also listened to Stuck in the 80's which was a lot of fun. I can listen to these while at work so I'll have to check out Welcome to Night Vale. You've selected some good books for this week's Bout of Books. I'm not participating but I hope you enjoy your books!! Have a great week!ReplyDelete
That video was so funny!ReplyDelete
I am so glad you tried out Night Vale!! I just want everyone to know about it... it is just creepy and fun at the same time. I like that the podcast kind of makes fun of itself.ReplyDelete
Yea that captcha threw me off the first few times. I kept refreshing the page not realizing I needed to type in the ad's word. So annoying.ReplyDelete
I don't care for captcha either. I noticed that a lot of new blogs use it (I even did when I first started) then I realized that blogger does a really good job catching spam. So I don't really get any spam comments that make it to the blog.ReplyDelete
I hear you.. half the time I can't even tell what the captcha is saying and type in whatever and it still takes it. I can't believe though the dumb thing has added ads now!ReplyDelete
Thanks!! I don't watch Epic Reads youtube channel enough. I love that every thing they post about I can totally relate to.ReplyDelete
I like radio shows too (fictional) I only really just discovered them. I listened to an old Halloween record a long time ago when I was a kid and it was like a radio show with a guy who was investigating a house that turned out to be haunted. So fun!ReplyDelete
I don't like listening to things either. I don't ever know what I am supposed to do? Stare at the wall while listening? So that is why I listen to it during working out. I just am so glad I discovered it.ReplyDelete
The worst part about captcha is that once you discover the blog has it you have already typed out your comment!! NOOOOOOoooooo So then I don't want to delete it because I took the time to write it. Just errrr... I will still comment on those blogs though. I know some bloggers who refuse to comment on blogs with captcha.ReplyDelete
You might want to ask them to start loaning video games? I think it probably depends on how big the library district is. My district is pretty huge. I hope yours does loan games.ReplyDelete
I would be willing to check out more podcasts now. So I think I might check out the ones you listed. I just have never really found any that I have enjoyed. But I am always open to trying new ones.ReplyDelete
LOL! All readers should feel her pain.ReplyDelete
I have never really explored podcasts. I guess I should. There have been a few suggestions in just this post. How nice that you can listen to podcasts while working. I wish I could have a job like that. Tomorrow is the start of Bout of Books. I always start the week out strong and then the weekend comes and I slow down.ReplyDelete
This podcast is really just a fun audio book to listen to. That is what I call it. And it's presented in episodes which makes it more fun. I just really enjoy it.ReplyDelete
Such wonderful things happening on the internet! I have been super busy at work so no playing online lately :/ReplyDelete
I LOVE Welcome to Nightvale! I played it for my mom and she just gave me a weird look and was like uh...let's listen to something else....so I guess it's just for a certain type of person hahaReplyDelete
I have been a little busy too.. but I am squeezing in game time instead of reading time.ReplyDelete
I think so too. I am only on episode 7 but hoping to get further this week. I try to listen to it when I work out but I've been putting off working out.ReplyDelete
It looks like we're about in the same place - I listen to it before I go to sleep, but it has the unfortunate effect that I usually forget half of the podcast and have to relisten to it hahaReplyDelete
I love those book nerd problems videos too. SO funny (and so true, LOL). And I can't even talk to you about SDCC b/c JEALOUS ;)ReplyDelete
Awww, you're loving Welcome to Night Vale! *this makes me happy* How far are you in? I'm on ep 50... so only two more eps till next month :( Oh, and I bought The Debate on iTunes so that's one more hour of this "crazyness" I'm now completly obsessed with :)ReplyDelete
I am not very far. Only episode 8. I listen every day when I go on my daily walk. I tried to get my mom to listen to it and she just wasn't into it. I am like a Night Vale pusher. I try to get everyone to listen!ReplyDelete
