Sunday Post

Let's chat about what's going on this week... on my blog.. on other blogs... on the internet... and just everywhere!    I link up my post to Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves.

On the blog:
-Let's talk... is your blog a secret???
- Time to chat about comic books again!!
-A new Project Disney... this week I talk about  The Aristocats .
- I review The Princess Bride and compare it to the classic movie.

Around the blogspere:
-Does anyone read books the right way anymore?  via i09
-How to read one book a week via the Huffington Post .. I need to do this!
-Defining a Classic what do you think one is? by Reading is Fun Again
-Are you a fussy blog follower?  I like this post from Ransom Reads because it is a nice post.  A lot of time when I see posts from people talking about blogs they just yell about what they don't like about your blog.  But this one puts it nice.
- Is there room for more book bloggers?? This is great advice for new and old book bloggers by Candace's Book Blog.
-Unique places to buy books.. I especially love the link where you can personalize books like Dracula with your own name, via Eastern Sunset Reads.

Internet:
This week's internet video is for my fellow video game players... it's the trailer for the new Batman Arkham Knight Video game.  I can't wait for this one.. but it is only on the Xbox One, and PS4 so I guess I better upgrade sooner then later.

Books Books Books:
This week was another good week where I didn't get too many books.  I am about to start reading The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd.  Excited about that book! I have seen lots of good reviews on it.  I am reading the Before Watchmen comic book series.  I don't think it's as good as the original Watchmen Graphic Novel.

  1. I am curious about the Watchmen prequels too. I don't think they will be as strong as the original, but they might be interesting. This reminds me that I should reread it.

  2. I have been curious about them for a long time... I am going to wait till I read all four and do one big review on all of them.

  3. I saw that new eye method of reading and I prefer curling up with my books. I can read a paperback in under three hours and unless it was for studying I would not like that method. Have a wonderful week Angie!

  4. I'm so bummed that Arkham Knight is only on next gen consoles...I wasn't planning to upgrade for a while. I'll have to check out some of the links that you posted. I hope you have a great week.

  5. I don't think speed reading through a book is much enjoyment. One of the things I love about reading is spending the time sitting in my chair reading. I just love it... speeding through also I feel like would give me a headache. But maybe not??

  6. I wasn't going to upgrade for a while either but it looks like it is going to be fall of 2014. I still don't know which system I am going to get either. Xbox has Titan Fall and Halo... but it also forces you to buy the Kinect. PS4 has Uncharted and God of War.... sooo I just don't know.

  7. Wow, the Batman trailer is quite impressive - seen that car bursting out of the water ?! You've had quite a busy week, I'll try to take a closer look at all that (was away on vacation) ;)

  8. I know... when the car came out of the water I was like ... WHA????? I read that Gotham City was going to be way bigger in this game then in any of the other games so you'll have a bigger area to explore. Batman has always been a hot sexy/dark superhero to me so the more they put him in games the better!

  9. I want to read The Madman's Daughter sometime too. Have a great week Angie :)

  10. Ooh, you linked to some epic discussions this week! I really enjoyed that one by Candace! It was really encouraging for someone like me who's only just figured out (a little bit, lol, I still have plenty to learn!) how the book blogging world works. :)

  11. sometimes it's nice not to have a lot of books, like that you can read your whole TBR pile.

  12. I've only just recently gotten into comics--they're WICKED cool;) Aaaand I really enjoyed The Madman's Daughter, I hope you get as much of a thrill out of it!

(Also, you're SUPER friendly and sweet and THANK YOU for all your comments over on my blog, I really appreciate your thoughts!)

  13. Jessica @ a GREAT readMarch 9, 2014 at 6:36 AM

Oh nice! It's nice not to add too many books to the TBR mountain, and yet even when I have those times, I can't help but for feeling sad. So odd since I have 100s of books to read! Hope you're enjoying your current read!

    Here's my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

  14. It's been another busy week in the blogosphere then! I loved your discussion on whether we keep our blogs a secret. It definitely showed a lot of different perspectives :).

  15. I found that I've naturally taught myself to read fast. I've loved reading for so long that I just picked up the skills on my own. I took a reading speed test online (Google Staples Reading Speed Test) and found that I naturally read 498 wpm with 95% accuracy. So, I'm happy without the app. Plus, I can slow down if I want. I'm not sure we should ever feel self-conscious about how fast we read anyway. It seems counterproductive.

  16. Great articles this week. I loved this quote from How to Read a Book in Week: Reading has made me a much better, more complete, and happier person.

    Couldn't agree more!

  20. I love taking notes when I read for review. Takes me longer to read a book, but I like to absorb all the words. Now if I am not digging the book, I will still try very hard to get to that last page. I think I choose books reasonable wisely so it is vary rare I have a DNF.

Enjoy your Watchmen reads :) Mich

  21. I thought it was a really good post too. What I liked about it is that it's good advice for new and older bloggers. Really blogging is hard work... sometimes I think what am I even going to post next week?????

  22. I know!! I get excited when nothing comes into the library! LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I have always loved comic characters but really didn't get started until DCs New 52. I didn't know where to begin so when they revamped I finally knew where to start. It is perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks for stopping by... I really want to read some of the book I already own. So I am going to trying to not request anything from the library.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks! I thought it was interesting too... I didn't realize that so many people kept their blogs a secret. Though I can totally understand why. It's nice to have your own little place in the universe.

  26. Great point!!! I do think I read a lot faster then the people I know who don't read a lot. They tell me I am skimming and that I am not really taking in what I am reading but I disagree. I feel that I take in the whole book and so that's all that matters.

  27. Yes!!! I love that quote too!!! Amazing

  28. Thanks for stopping by! Can't wait to get started on that book.

  29. I thought Candace had a good discussion there too. So many things I wish I had known about when I started blogging.

  30. I have been enjoying Watchmen so far. I'll post my review when I get all four read.. waiting on them from the library.

  31. I have Madman's Daughter too and I don't know why I haven't read it. Oh well, another hoarder confession. In any case, I hope you enjoy your reading assignments this week!

  32. Thanks for stopping by!!! Mine is a library book...I have renewed it to the limit and don't know if I will get it read before it's due back.

  33. Thanks for sharing such interesting links, I found a couple of new blogs to follow via them :)

  34. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a good week and enjoy The Madman's Daughter. That's on my tbr to read too.

  35. I LOVE this Batman series. It is so awesome! I'm sad that Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill aren't doing the voice acting anymore. Are they really only releasing this on Xbox One and PS4? That sucks!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I hope you enjoy The Madman's Daughter. It's been on my reading list for a while, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

  37. I know.. I am bummed about the voices too. No one can top Mark Hamill's joker. I will probably buy one of the systems by the end of this month.. just not sure yet which. I would hope the Batman would be on the ps3 or 360.. but I guess eventually all the games are going to change over and I just have to move on myself.

  38. Everyone seems so excited about the Madman's Daughter. I did take it back to the library today so I can renew it again.

  39. I love the re-cap. I have been meaning to read Princess Bride for a long time... still on the TBR though. :/ Have a wonderful week!

  40. Thanks!!! I wanted to read Princess Bride for a long time too so I was really happy when my book club picked it.

  41. Your comments always go to my spam folder!! GERRR So far I only think the Before Watchmen books are so-so. They really aren't as good as the first Watchmen at all. So glad I didn't buy these as issues and just waited to get them from the library. My review should be up this week.
