Bout of Book 9.0 Goals and Challenges

 Bout of Books

I am going to participate again in this read-a-thon!  I really need to get caught up on some books andwhen I saw others participating in it I knew it was perfect for me.  It starts on the 13th!

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, Jan 6th and runs through Sunday, Jan 12th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 6.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog.

Don't forget to use the #boutofbooks hashtag when updating on Twitter and follow boutofbooks.
I will be updating my progress here on my webpage and on my my twitter page.
I will only be updating to this page so check back here. I also will be doing my challenges on this link so scroll down to the bottom to see them!

Time Devoted to Reading
I would like to try to read 2 hours a day at least.

 My Goals:

I would like to participate in a twitter chat.  I participated in one last time around and it was a lot of fun and a GREAT place to get advice from other people.

Books I would like to read are Allegiant by Veronica Roth, Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler for my Young Adult Book Club,  catch up on some comic books: Batwoman Vol 3, Nightwing Vol 2, Jack of Fables Vol 2, Justice League Vol 3, Batman Detective Comics Vol 2, and Superman Action Comics Vol 2.  So I have plenty of those to read.  All books are from the library and will be do back soon so this readathon is perfect for me.

Challenges:

Monday 1/6
Book Buying Spree -- Bookish Comforts
The challenge here is that I have a $100 gift card to spend... I go to the Book Depository to pick out books that meet $100. So my list.... If I had $100 I'd go big.  I'd buy Madonna's Sex book because I have always wanted it 49.95 but they don't have it and I was going to put the Harry Potter special edition set but for some reason it's $100??  That is way overpriced. So I'll pick The Walking Dead Volume 1  and Volume 2 $48.37. These are my choices.  Go big or go home right??  I am actually at $108.11 but... I would just pay the 8.11 out of my own pocket is that cheating???  I noticed though with this challenge that Book Depository is actually kind of expensive.

Mad Libs -- Cheap Thrills
This is where I create a fun Mad Lib! I decided to do mine with comic book names since majority of my book this readathon are comics I am catching up on.

Batman The New 52 DC
Green Lantern The New 52 DC
Catwoman The New 52 DC
Birds of Prey The New 52 DC
Detective Comics The New 52 DC
Suicide Squad The New 52 DC
Red Hood and the Outlaws The New 52
Wonder Woman The New 52

I just read the greatest book!
This guy BATMAN ends up in the middle of a/an GREEN conspiracy. Turns out his/her ancestors were pirates, and he/she might be the key to finding the WONDER BIRDS. It’s a mythic artifact that disappeared centuries ago, and now a shadowy group of DETECTIVES are looking for it. No one knows what uncovering it might do, but these guys are willing to (commit) SUICIDE for it.
I won’t say anything else. But believe me, if you like RED stories with SUPERMAN(s) and SUPERGIRL(s), you have to read this one.

Tuesday 1/7
Reading Tactics List -- Sarah Says Read
How do you fit in as much reading as possible during Bout of Books? How do you squeeze in those extra pages?
I really try not to have anything on TV that takes any attention.  For example... right now I am watching I am Britney Jean (I love Britney!!). But I don't actually have to pay too much attention. It's too bad I can't stand audio books or I would listen to them while I'm at the gym!!

Audiobook Cast -- Geeky Bloggers Book Blog
In this challenge we cast an audio book.  I picked one of my favorite fantasy series .. Drizzt by RA Salvatore.
So I am going to cast the RA Salvatore Drizzt book series (based off Dungeons and Dragons games). The main character Drizzt is a dark elf, I would cast Wesley Snipes. He isn’t in many films anymore but he would be perfect. Catti-bree I would cast Emma Watson, Wulfgar who is a Barbarian would totally be Chris Hemsworth! Those are the three main characters I would cast!!

Wednesday 1/8
Introduce Someone to Your Favorite Genre -- Doing Dewey
This challenge is going to be fun to keep checking back at all day and read the answers.  Here is mine:  A genre I love huh???  Well let's be honest... lately I have been very into graphic novels/comics.  People tend to think of them as just superheroes like DC/Marvel.  But they are much much more.  I read an amazing one last year called The Arrival (http://angelasanxiouslife.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-arrival-by-shaun-tan-graphic-novel.html) the artwork in that book is beautiful.  I also read and finished the Locke and Key series by Joe Hill (http://angelasanxiouslife.blogspot.com/2012/09/locke-and-key-volume-1-welcome-to.html) who is Stephen King's son.  The story will suck you in, it's about a house that uses all these keys that do different things (heal you, make you large, change your sex).  Imagine reading a wonderful story and seeing beautiful art work while reading.  If you haven't given graphic novels a chance thinking they are for teens/kids give them a chance!!

Thursday 1/9
Double Date Book Challenge -- Writing My Own Fairy Tale
The challenge has us pairing up two book that we think would go together that people should read.
This is fun and a great idea.  I love pairing up books! This is fun.. I would pair Ready Player One by Ernest Cline with 1984 by George Orwell. I think these two books would be great to read together. Both are about computers and people being controlled by them. Of course Ready Player One is an excellent book so read it no matter what!

Poem Challenge -- Pen in Her Hand
I am not much of a poem person.  Never have been.  I don't know what it is... the challenge does look fun though and neat.  I see that there is a book spine poetry coming up too.  AYE!  POEMS!!!!

Book Spine Poetry -- The Book Spines

Saturday 1/11
