Top Ten Tuesday- 2014 books I can't wait for!

It’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the wonderful blog at The Broke and the Bookish! This week's topic is Top Ten 2014 book releases I am looking forward to ( though I only picked eight).

These are in no particular order:

I love this series!  Daughter of Smoke and Bone (book 1) and Days of Blood and Starlight (book 2) were both great to me.  So I really can't wait to get this trilogy finished! Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor looks pretty neat.

This series is fabulous.  I really love the idea of this whole.. old souls vs new souls.  This is one series where the cover actually caused me to pick the book up and read it.  Incarnate and Asunder were both pretty amazing so I have high hopes for this one too.  Infinite by Jodi Meadows is one book I can't wait for.

I wish there was a cover for this book already!   Shadow and Bone (book 1) and Siege and Storm (book 2)  I thought were good.  The second book got a little off the story to me but still enjoyable.  Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo is going to be an Epic ending.  Oh and the short stories Bardugo writes are pretty amazing too!

I think this is a neat dystopia series.  I wouldn't have ever read it if it weren't for my book club picking it for our monthly read.  This is another trilogy I'll be finishing in 2014! Blood Red Road and Rebel Heart were good starter books though I did feel Rebel Heart was one of those slow second book in a series.  Dust Lands #3 Raging Star by Moira Young is a book I can't wait to get my hands on.

I just recently read the first book, The Diviners and loved it.  I am not sure why the publishers changed the cover art before the second book is even out?  I liked the original art better myself. Lair of Dreams hopefully keeps the whole 1920s theme going perfectly!

I have been waiting for Locke and Key Volume 6 Alpha and Omega FOREVER!  This is the final arc in this wonderful graphic novel by Joe Hill illustrated by  Gabriel Rodriguez.  If you are interested in getting into graphic novels this series is a perfect place to begin.  I am excited to read it but sad that the series is finished.

I'll be honest... I didn't think that Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children needed a sequel.  I really liked it as a stand alone.  But since there is going to be a sequel... well of course I am going to read it.  I don't know if the pictures in Hollow City are going to be ones Riggs found in flee markets again... but I sure do hope so!

Now... some of you may know this, I love comics!  I don't write a review for every comic I read because... well I think everyone would be like..snore.  But I love love the Fables comics and am sad that they author Bill Willingham announced that the end is coming.  I think in 2015 the last comic in the series will be written.  BOO!  Looking forward to Camelot volume 20 that is coming out in 2014.

Well... those are my eight picks!!  I can't wait to see what everyone else is looking forward to!  Leave a link to your top ten tuesday this week.

  1. INFINITE is one of mine, too! You have to join the read-a-thon I'm co-hosting with Jodi's approval, if you haven't already signed up! :) RUIN AND RISING is also on my list. Ooh, DUST LANDS is finally ending? I still need to read REBEL HEART, eep! The end is coming to Fables? Hmm, I still need to get into that series. I don't like that comics never end, though, so this might be the time for me to get into it!

    1. I haven't signed up yet!! WHAT !! I am going to find this read-a-thon! So excited. Yea.. I guess Fables has been around like 10 years, so it's a long long series. I didn't start though till this year so it ended in perfect timing for me I guess.

    1. Libba Bray is pretty amazing. This is only the second book of hers I've read and it just made me want to read more and more of her books.

  4. I need to read the Locke and Key series, I love graphic novels and I've heard amazing things about this. I was a bit disappointed to know there was a sequel to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, I liked the idea of it being a stand alone as well.

    1. It seems anymore... especially in young adult books, that everything gets a sequel or a trilogy. It's tough to find good stand alones.

  5. I confess that I haven't read Laini Taylor yet but I have the first two books in my TBR list, which is just piling and piling up. I'm intrigued by Jodi Meadow's Infinite.

Thanks for dropping by my TTT earlier.

  7. I'm actually reading Daughter of Smoke & Bone right now so I'm glad to see you enjoyed it! Also, I've recently read Incarnate but I'm unsure about reading the sequel so I'm not sure if it'd make my list. And I am also really excited for Ruin & Rising but I also really want a cover for it too! Great list and thanks for sharing! :)

  8. We have a couple of overlaps. I can't wait for Infinite and Ruin and Rising. I haven't started Daughter of Smoke and Bones but I have the first two books. I'll probably just do a series binge when the third one comes out.

    Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Series binge is the way to go. Then you don't have to wait years for a book to come out like the rest of us.

  9. I am excited for Hollow City, because I want more pictures too! I was disappointed in the change in tone in the first book, but I am willing to read the second one for the pictures. :)

    1. I agree... pictures are the only reason I am reading the second book. The first book was a little too like Xmen for me.

  10. I'm planning on reading the Shadow and Bone trilogy once it's complete. (I'm weird like that. I just read the Divergent books last month.)

Also, I'm not into graphic novels at all, but the Joe Hill series has my interest piqued.

    1. Read it!! Read Locke and Key now!! :) It is a cool spooky story and the art just makes it even better and even more spooky.

  11. We have quite a few in common this week! :) I didn't realize the sequel to The Diviners was coming out next year. I just read that in October, too. I'd be interested to see what she does with the story.

    Happy Top Ten Tuesday!

  14. I'm excited for Lair of Dreams, too! Though I'm extremely disappointed in the new cover art. The original was so gorgeous, and this new one just seems garish and too flashy. :( Oh well, I'm sure it will be a great sequel anyway!

    1. I think the new cover art makes the people on the cover look a little like they are ghosts or something. I really don't get it?

  15. Great picks! A lot of these made my own list, but I need to read the whole series for them - The Grisha series & Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. I'm excited to get to all of them next year. I also really want to read The Diviners and Miss Peregrine's as well. My TTT

    1. OH ... I think it's great that you are waiting until the entire series is out before you start it. I am actually waiting for all of the Game of Thrones books to be out before I read anymore of those.

  16. Other than Lair of Dreams, which you know I'm looking forward to, this is basically the list of series at the top of my TBR list! Hopefully I'll get to them next year...

  19. I read Daughter of S&B, but it was such a big book I got discouraged from trying book 2. But everyone seems to have book 3 on their TTT this week so mayb I should give it a go. Great list!

  20. I still haven't read Shadow and Bone, but that's on my list of series to read in 2014. The Daughter of Smoke & Bone series sounds really good, too! Great picks :)

  21. I can't wait for Lair of Dreams either. August is way too far away!! I agree that Miss Peregrines doesn't need a sequel. But since there is one, I'm interested enough to read it..... (even though I thought the first book could've been better)

Thanks for stopping by My TTT

    1. Hollow City better not be a bummer... if I am going to read a sequel for a book that doesn't need one I hope that it is amazing!

  22. Out of the 8 books you've mentioned, I am only familiar with Ruin and Rising and Gods and Monsters. I just read Shadow and Bone and DOSB last September or October I think. They were okay for me, not really that mindblowing. I hope the second books would work out for me so I can also look forward to the last installments.

I hope you will be able to read all of your 2014 must reads, Angie. :D

Thanks for stopping by Thoughts and Pens.

    1. Oh no... sorry to hear that S&B wasn't that great to you. Funny how some books can blow people away and other people are just like meh. DOBS is also a good book to me but it's long so if you don't love it... well it's probably better to find something else out there that is more fitting to your tastes.
